so in the 2003 fma, it's at least implied (maybe outright stated? it's been long enough i don't remember) that dante is the one who names the homunculi.

from a meta perspective, it's symbolic of notable flaws of their creators, and maybe dante means it that way too, but really think about the implications.

when hohenheim tried to bring their son back to life, made a fucked up clone instead, and then ditched them, she named the clone envy. was she planning on the seven deadly sins theme, did she only name him later when she came up with it, or did she call him that from the start due to his nature as "almost my son but not quite" and then came up with the theme later? regardless of the reason, it's kinda fucked up.

and then later she made a clone of one of her dead lovers and called him greed. was she subtly admitting to her own greedy nature, or was she basically calling him a gold digger?
