Congratulations Vive on your successful debut.

Formed at the beginning of 2021 and debuting on the 19th of April the same year, Vive are Gold Star’s newest boy group. Following in the footsteps of groups such as Origin and Impulse, Vive have already begun to mark their place within the company. With their debut album selling well and their songs charting, Vive are starting to prove they are a group not to be messed with. But what else can you expect when you’re formed through a survival show? Though the group are still surrounded by controversy, they are trying to move past Hot Topic(k) and showcase their refreshing and new sound. With the members having such a close bond, it’s hard to believe that they are only a temporary group.

this... isn’t right. the bag in kiana’s hand crinkled with a squeeze of her hand, an act she had to force herself to cease. these ingredients weren’t hers, but that could mean they were someone else’s. her widened eyes looked around, flit, person to person, station to station, heart matching the uptick of speed.

purple. ki’s feet moved before an anxious reaction could turn her to a spiral of conversational worry, meaning only when she stopped, did she first see the bag holder’s face. “hello. did you happen to have your additives mixed up? i requested lavender, but this,” she brandished the bag like an offering, cupped in her palms, “isn’t it.” belatedly, the features before her registered, painting a vague picture of who this was. if she was right, this was one of her juniors, either one of the gold star trainees, or a member of vive.

only then, in the moment of breaking off from the current situation, did the worry set in. was she being too forward, too rude, to a junior? they’d never spoken before. some might say the conversation was rude only for that. a strain tickled her inflection as she followed up, “but, of course, if i’m wrong, i’ll look elsewhere. i’m sorry to have bothered you.”

cooking is, to sunghee, a therapeutic activity, an enjoyable hobby and a necessity. there’s a lot they won’t – not out of being spoiled, but out of the extra sensitivity they have to certain flavors and textures – and from a young age they had to learn exactly what they could handle and couldn’t. the best way to guarantee that they’d have something to eat wherever they went was to learn how to cook. by the time they moved to south korea by themselves, at only thirteen years of age, sunghee was already quite a good cook. so they enjoy the process of it, the deciding what to cook, the handling of ingredients, all done with the tv turned on while a movie they’ve watched several times plays in low volume.

today, though, they cannot care much about the process. they are starving for one, and even their low sensibility to their needs cannot stop them from feeling it. it is for a good – good? – reason, though, as their limbs are still relaxed after theirs and kyubok’s… activities. standing in the middle of their kitchen, doing the quickest kimchi fried rice of their life, sunghee is trying really hard not to overthink dragging the boy after music core to sunghee’s and jaeyeol’s apartment because they wanted to fuck. “you really didn’t have any schedule after the music show today?” they ask, as if that would change anything. kyubok clearly is here and not with his group, as sunghee wears his t-shirt because it’s long enough to cover the top half of their thighs. “won’t you get in trouble with your manager?”

“Uh, Gyujeong, Maverick, Duri. Why? Just... ranking their vibes, I guess.”

👀 what's your current list of artists you'd like to work with whether it be a collab or creating music with/for?

“I don’t really keep a list like that anymore. Instead of seeking out people I’m a fan of, I’d rather work with people it comes naturally with. I might admire someone a hell of a lot, but we don’t click creatively, and I wouldn’t want to force it. The quality of work can be compromised when you let preconceived notions or admiration get in the way too much. These days, I’m more into letting my music happen organically.”

👀 do you wish the members of knight were closer with each other?

“Some members are close. Have you seen Duri and Maverick? Not sure there’s a lot of ways for them to be closer. On the whole, as a group? No. I don’t really care. We’re co-workers. We don’t need to be anything else, and it’s not like I’m putting the effort in to be closer to them as a whole, so I don’t expect anything from them.”

VIVE RUN AWAY PHOTO CARDS

After having made a successful debut with Crown and gaining their first win after only their second week of promotions, Vive are back again with not only a new sound but also a new look. Their newest mini album The Dream Chapter: Magic showcases the talent and range of Gold Star’s newest group. Through the album, fans are able to receive one random student ID and photocard.

Setting: Ulsan Music Festival Date: July 26th, 2021 Time: 6:47pm Characters Involved: Guanting & @fmdkyubok

even though they hadn’t had many chances to spend time with one another after the fantasy concert that took place in the states, guanting still did consider kyubok a friend. or at least someone who had the potential to be a friend. they had gotten along rather well, having to spend a few nights together in the same villa. they were close in age as well, which made things even more easier for ting to find himself relating to the other male. he knew that, if given more time together, they would be able to develop quite a nice friendship.

however he didn’t think that they would be brought together to spend time with one another in this way. guanting found himself holding together the front of his pants, a frown on his face as he stood in front of kyubok. “is it really that noticeable?” he wasn’t sure when unity would be called to perform next, so he didn’t know if he had enough time to find one of the stylists that were floating around backstage. “you can’t see anything, right?” he let go of the fabric for a second, almost immediately grabbing it to hold it together once again when he noticed the blue material of his boxers showing through. “never mind.”

Setting: Villa F Date: June 8th, 2021 Time: 8:34pm Characters Involved: Guanting & @fmdkyubok

It was like joining a new boy group all over again. With him being around four other guys that he didn’t really know all too well, Ting was more than excited to start forming bonds and friendships with the four guys he would be spending the new few days with - or at least whenever they wouldn’t be busy with other tasks and things to do, like the idol activities or the concerts that were sure to be coming soon. But those were worries for the Ting in the future. For the Ting in the present, he was focused on having fun and enjoying himself in the moment. And in that moment, he wanted to try out the hot tub that came along with the villa he was staying in with the other idols he had been paired up with. 

With his swimming shorts on and a towel tossed over his shoulder, he began to make his way out to the hot tub, stopping short when he walked past the kitchen and say Kyubok in there. He leaned against the counter, gentle drumming his hands against it. “Hey, did you want to come out to the hot tub with me? I was going to grab a few bottles of Soju or whatever alcohol they have around here and enjoy our free night off.” He paused for a second. “Are you old enough to drink?”

👀 what are your most and least favorite qualities of the other lucid members?

“for jeonghwa, my most and least favorite quality of her is the same, and it’s how unpredictable she can be. i think when it comes to performing and other aspects of this job, that’s a big plus as she can always come up with something new for the fans and keep them excited. at the same time, as her leader, there are times when i wish i could pull the reigns on her and just get her to stay still. 

jiwon is similar in which i think her being so spunky and fun is great and definitely needed as an idol. i’m not super talkative on camera, and i don’t actually like taking the lead on shows when i don’t have to, and i think jiwon fills in that gap very well. similar to jeonghwa, there’s times when i simply wish she and i agreed more often? so that we don’t bump heads, but it’s never been a huge problem so far. it’s more like a personal wish of mine. 

alice acts as a great mediator for the whole group. she sort of balances us all out with both her personality and presence on stage. she’s probably the most key member of lucid, in my opinion, when it comes to our performances. if i had to describe that in quality, i guess it’d be her professionalism? and just her sweetness. it’s so hard to pick a least favorite, but i guess her being too sweet and soft makes me worry for her.” 

since the rest of my members can be so energetic, suwei being on the calmer side helps me sit back sometimes. one less person to constantly worry about, you know, and i love that about her. she’s also pretty much a human angel with how kind she is. but sometimes she can be a little too positive? makes me think it has more to do with her age or maybe i’m just not positive enough.”
