lipstick’s already hit their peak pretty early on, and now they’re sort of in a position where they haven’t completely hit rock bottom to disband, but they’re also not the nation’s girl group like they once originally where. they have quite a loyal fanbase, and so bc can probably continue to give them asia or world tours and bring in the money, but they don’t do so hot with the public anymore. the public simply doesn’t care enough now that there’s younger and fresher girl groups out there. hell, she wouldn’t either so she gets that, and she’s not really concerned with it either.
when she was first pushed as a soloist, she was uncertain about where that would lead her, but now she quite enjoys the things she gets to do on her own. her sound isn’t too drastically different from lipstick’s, but she likes some of the creative freedom that bc allows her. it’s not big, but her goal at the moment is probably just to keep performing. it took her a while, but she genuinely enjoys the thrill she gets from being on stage now, and it’ll only increase with the filming and airing of queendom.

hyeju does not waste a single minute on deciding what she’s going to wear while on her way to ride a fucking airplane. airplanes are mostly for sleeping until arriving to a destination anyway so what’s the point on dressing well? most idols change out of whatever outfit they wore into the airport by the time they actually get on the airplane anyway. she’ll never understand the whole airport fashion thing to begin with, but she seems to oddly make headlines for her fashion. she prefers comfort over everything else, but apparently she does it well enough to get some pictures taken of her.
usually, she just dresses in whatever she sees that morning. sweats are a common occurrence especially now that she’s further into her career. her manager used to tell her to dress up a little when they were a younger group in which she’d maybe wear jeans or something nice looking like a coat. she still does wear those things because it’s simple. her fashion is not complex at all, and she just puts together basic items to create an outfit. but really, she’s not super concerned with how people view her fashion sense.

despite originally coming into the industry with absolutely nothing in mind, hyeju quite likes hearing the roar of the crowd and just that overall feeling of being on stage. being under the lights and in front of the cameras is hard to describe with words, but it gets her heart pumping a sort of way. it’s almost like an adrenaline rush that’s different from, for example, riding a rollercoaster or bungee jumping.
she also thinks that if she didn’t debut as an idol, she’d be alone in this world. it was pretty evident how lonely she would have been if she stayed with her family and followed their footsteps into the business world. while a lot of people would argue that the entertainment industry isn’t all that great either, at least she gets unconditional love and support from people all around the world. what other job grants that? she acts tsundere, but she likes reading the supportive comments her fans leave or the naver comments that claim nobody in the industry really does it like lipstick anymore.
because for as much as hyeju likes to claim that she’s a big girl, tough and all, she really does like being loved. perhaps it’s for all the love she never received as a child growing up.

her audition story will never not be funny.
the friend that she was staying with once she left her home had always dreamed of being a celebrity. acting was apparently out of the picture though because she couldn’t keep a straight face for a second, and so the friend was determined to become an idol. hyeju had to listen to her every night talk about everything she’d do once she became a singer.
when it was time for the bc auditions, her friend had asked her to follow along. initially, she had absolutely no interest in auditioning herself, but the casting manager had saw her in line with her friend and handed her a slip herself. she was simply holding onto it until her friend told her that she should try it out too. it’d just be for fun or whatever.
the twist was on her friend though because hyeju went in and sang whatever old song she vaguely remembers her mom always singing along to, danced really oddly to some music that was picked for her and then made it. while her friend didn’t.
that was the end of their friendship, but it was the beginning of a period in hyeju’s life that would turn her life around forever.
ever since lipstick’s debut, hyeju’s been one of the members most sought out on variety shows. most of the time, she doesn’t even try to be funny or get some screen time, but her blunt and dry humor gets her a few good laughs that result in the producers calling her back. despite her grumpiness on programs sometimes, she manages to never cross the line that could result in her appearing to be arrogant which seems to be a nice balance when it comes to variety shows.
she prefers studio programs over those that have to be filmed outside. she tends to do better with her words rather than her body, and that’s where she gets more laughs out as well. though physical variety programs do end up coming to her as well mostly because producers tend to want to know if her lazy image is just an image or the truth. they figure out all too soon that it’s the truth, and hyeju really dislikes moving around too much when unnecessary.
hyeju might not be bc’s first choice when it comes to sending a lipstick member out on variety, but she always does decently enough that the offers continue to come in even after eight years in the industry.

it’s mostly because of hyeju’s personality of being unbothered by a lot of things, but she likes to think that almost all her interactions with fans have been good. though she can probably talk about some bad interactions with people who weren’t her fans, per se. to be more specific, she’s certain that a good number of knight fans dislike her because she’s so publicly friendly with the knight members.
but she believes that she’s had good experiences with almost all her fans. if she had to bring up one specific incident, it might be during her blue moon promotions. though hyeju isn’t the type to get nervous, she was still a little uncertain about how her first solo adventure would go. on her way to music bank for her first stage, she received a letter from a fan who was waiting on the sidelines, watching all the artists arrive for the broadcast.
she didn’t open up the letter until after she had finished pre-recording her stage, but it was a heartfelt letter about how the female had been a fan of hyeju and lipstick since debut, and how she felt proud that hyeju was getting the chance to showcase her own colors. she also knows that her solo debut was happening not too long after goeun’s departure, and that there were people who claimed that it was bc trying to distract everybody from what had happened with the group.
hyeju had never really thought about how her solo debut would be viewed by her fans so it was nice to receive that reassurance by one of her oldest fans.

hyeju’s pretty lucky in which her public image isn’t too far off from her actual self. looking back, she thinks it’s kind of surprising that bc never told her to put on some fake act or be this ideal idol. she thinks that maybe they saw her unbothered, calm and collected personality as something that could be marketed well which is why they simply let her be.
she’s not front and center for lipstick’s promotions and tend to just stick around in the back, but lipstick just has good public recognition all throughout that they still know who she is. a turning point in her career was probably tell me your wish in which she was given the center position in their ending. then lip gloss promotions came soon afterwards which did a number on boosting her recognition levels as well.
overall, she was usually just that lipstick member that always seemed to say the right things at the right time on variety shows or was always good at singing and dancing but not the best. not much has changed even with her solo activities. she’s still viewed quite positively by most and while her personality does get her some comments about how she’s rude at times, it’s not enough to ruin her.
sung got street cast, which... was very needed because his audition wasn’t the best. he wasn’t talented, when he came into gold star. sung had been in a choir when he was really young, as well as badly played low skill instruments like the recorder at the same time, but as he grew older, and engaging in the arts wasn’t a necessary part of his curriculum anymore, he stopped. there were other things his family wanted him to focus on.
and when he was street cast, sung’s family didn’t want him to audition in the first place. he’d had to beg them for the chance, and it was only because of his close relationship with his mother that his father managed to reluctantly agree. sung didn’t go into the audition expecting to get in. at the time, it wouldn’t have occurred to him that he’d have a higher chance of acceptance because he was street cast. so the tiny fourteen year old practiced as much as he could have with the limited knowledge he had about musical arts, then eventually sung a song and did a little dance, and got into gold star thinking they saw potential talent in him.

he was wrong, that gold star saw potential in him. at least, not for any talent reasons. it became quite clear to him early on what gold star wanted from him, and it wasn’t to mold his talent into something amazing. although he sat starry-eyed during vocal and dance lessons, even to the point of having dance lessons outside of the company after a while, gold star quickly pegged him as a rapper, because he had the kind of deep voice they wanted for that positioning. vocal lessons were sparse, much more than sung wanted them to be, which left him with little vocal skill, even after eight years of training.
and that was another side of it, that he trained for eight years. sung didn’t Like to think of it, but he knew they held him back for a reason. he thought it was many reasons, that he wasn’t yet talented enough, which only pushed him to work even harder, that he wasn’t pretty enough, which eventually broke him down into getting plastic surgery, and, that he was never taken seriously. it took a decade of being in the company for them to encourage him to explore songwriting more deeply, to see what he could be as an idol, to see how hard he worked, to see that he wasn’t the same fourteen year old they street cast. sometimes, he thinks they still dont see that.

maybe a basic answer for someone like sung, but for him, definitely the people. as with all jobs, there are people sung doesn’t like, doesn’t vibe with, doesn’t think have the same moral code as him, however, most of the people he meets, he loves. being an idol gave him the opportunity to meet all of his own idols as well. he found himself developing into someone who is a fan of idols as a trainee, so there were some people/groups that developed into faves while he was a trainee, and he was able to meet them at their debut, like charm or unity, but most other groups/soloists he’s a fan of, he became a fan before ever meeting them. being able to meet the people he admires is obviously a lovely experience, something that fills him with a lot of joy. the best part, to sung, though, is when he has the chance to become close to these people he has admired. it means he can learn from them on a more intimate level, which in most cases, is the reason he became a fan in the first place, from appreciating their talent in areas he feels he lacks. and in most cases, the aura of excitement is always there because he has a great talent in compartmentalizing his celebrity status and his place as a fan lmao

performance is a particular monster to tackle when it comes to sung. it’s the area he tends to differ the most in from bm, as even down to the fundamentals of the style of dance they work best in, sung and bm are opposites. sung’s preferred style is ballet, secondarily modern, while bm’s is in street dance. bm seems to have the direction with choreography to let things freely flow out of him, while sung is Very particular. he’s a perfectionist, and will hold his hand up at the same 45 degree angle every time, so help him god. there are times he can let loose and be more silly, or play around with choreography, but if it’s a professional performance, either with element or by himself, he’s going to do his absolute best to be as precise as possible. it leaves his stage presence as something quite different from his usual persona. very aggressive, forward, strong, and given element’s usual choreography, pretty masculine as well. sometimes, this obsessiveness with perfection means he misses out on the more fun and silly parts of performing with his group, or connecting with specific audience members, and it’s also been Very known to cause some kinds of rifts when practicing dance with others, as he tends to hold other people to similar standards as himself, though to a lesser degree.

sung doesn’t go on variety often. element doesn’t go on variety often. the most experience sung has with variety is from his solo promotional schedules, since that is more geared towards obtaining korean fans than element is in their promotions.
however, one of the biggest Sung Things when it comes to variety, is that he’s accidentally funny. he’s not the type of person others would call funny as a personality trait. he can be funny, sometimes, but usually, people will call him kind or sweet before funny, and even if they are calling him funny, it’s probably not haha laughing kind of funny. it’s similar in variety as it is in real life.
he’s a very personable person. sung is easy to like, easy to grasp onto. it’s part of his charm as an idol and a soloist. but sometimes, he’ll miss a joke, and his confusion is cute enough it pulls a laugh from mcs. sometimes, he’ll make a joke without realizing it, and even though he didn’t mean to, he’d glow with the praise of laughter. i’m entirely sure there could easily be some youtube compilation of ‘sung messing up on variety but it’s okay because it’s funny’ or... something of that nature.

element has yet to pass their threshold for social media, but they will vERY SOON so i’m gonna talk a little about the future too. currently, sung operates on element’s sns accounts only, and is quite active on them. most often, he’ll be found on their fancafe, instagram, or vlive. element does a lot of vlives as a group, or as part of their group schedules, and he also does vlives for his solo projects, but on occasion sung likes doing his own just because. in the past, he’s had a reality show, currently, he has a radio show with monthly vlive versions, and in the future, will have a youtube channel, so that format of speaking with fans isn’t foreign to him at all. sung has always been someone who can chat on for a long time even if he’s not being responded to (just rip the poor editors who have to cut out all of his ums and ahs) so it’s no issue.
the more frequent places to find sung would be on their fancafe and instagram. since debut, Element’s Sun has been the type of idol to try his best to keep in contact well with fans, despite the more massive language barrier than most other groups. he tries his best to reply to fans often, and be involved in fandom conversation, even about his own group. on instagram, though, sung is there almost every day. there may be some days he manages to not post, but pretty much every single day, sung has at least added to the group’s story. he doesn’t interact with fans directly so much there, but he’s certainly posting often and reading what he can from their commenters. he’s also quite known for his overly long captions filled with a million emojis. very sung core

fuck it we’re talking about singing And rapping. so, singing was sung’s second love, after dancing. he really wanted to learn more about it as a trainee, but it didn’t manage to happen. at debut, and for a lot of his career so far, sung’s headcanon for his singing was worse than bm’s. his trouble wasn’t really pitching correcting, as he’s always had a good ear and, if given the opportunity, would change his pitch correctly if he messed up. rather, it’s that he had basically no technique behind him, or any proper training, so his vocal tone was particularly grating, and he’d have severely hurt his vocal chords if he tried to be a singer with the technique he used.
currently, his voice more like where bm is because he’s been taking weekly-ish vocal lessons. proper technique isn’t natural for him, but he has learned some methods to support his singing better, and has adapted his vocal tone a bit to be less awful, something which he didn’t think was possible. he hopes to one day surpass where he is, and maybe, be considered a Good vocalist, even if it’s unlikely he’d get to the point of being Great or better.
as for rapping, his sound is completely based off of bm. the method to get there, that’s a bit different. bm and sung have different tastes in music. while they both have eclectic taste, bm likes rap, hip hop, noise, the most, while sung likes pop. they connect most on affection for r&b inspired music, thought. so, what might be an easy rap for bm could be incredibly hard for sung, based on preference alone. whereas bm seems to work towards being A Rapper more, sung considers himself an idol who raps, and was treated that way since he became a trainee.

it sounds weird to say considering sung is a celebrity and an idol, but he’s not super talented in many areas. before becoming a trainee, he never tried out many things, because much of his free time was spent learning the family business. and sung wasn’t very good at that. he did learn some skills from that, definitely. he’s much more adept at reading through contracts and negotiating than he would have been otherwise. he knows a lot more about property value than he would have. however, he’s not nearly as good as his brother. when he became a trainee and his brother took over his role as the ‘heir’, it was very apparent to everyone in the family that the role was best suited for him, even if no one would say it allowed because they didn’t want to hurt sung’s feelings.
so, the skills he does have, are more about his personality. he’s charismatic, empathetic, a good listener, affectionate, willing to stand up for those he loves. but when talking about ‘talent’, i’m not sure if those count. probably the best place to look for actual talent not about being on stage, would be his behind the scenes work with music. since 2019, sung has been heavily involved in the songwriting scenes, as opposed to medium involved before, writing for himself, for friends, for strangers, just because. talent is,, subjective, but i poor son ally think that sung is talented in songwriting. i like the songs he’s chosen to write, and though charting doesn’t matter despite what fans might say, several of his penned songs have charted well, so it must mean other people like what he’s written as well.

element doesn’t have as many fansites as other groups, but sung still likes to look nice when he goes to the airport. it’s partially because of his upbringing. for a large portion of his childhood adolescent years, sung dressed up whenever he went out. it’s ingrained in him to look put together when he leaves the house. he’s not really the ‘going out in your pajamas’ type.
and that applies to airport fashion too! it’s the place he’s most likely to be in his own clothes that weren’t picked out by a stylist, and be photographed by others, so it’s extra important. in general, his fashion has followed along for how his general fashion was. for the first two-ish years of being in element, his airport fashion was big clothes. like he’s swimming in them. very monochrome, white top, black pants, kind of thing. he didn’t feel comfortable in himself or his body, and that showed in the way his clothes swallowed him up. but, with time, and development in his personal life, he’s come to express himself a bit better in his clothes. he wears more colors, tighter clothes, more varied clothes. although he wouldn’t dress at the airport like he would at the dorms, there’s an aura of that style in his dress now. he likes more jewelry, overalls, crop tops, higher waisted pants, jelly shoes. probably the biggest difference is shorts, which he’d have only worn before when he Had to, but now Loves them.

sung doesn’t really have many ‘bad’ fans. the worst of them to him are those that solo stan him, from his solo career. he doesn’t so much mind people that vaguely call themselves fans because they know he’s friends with their faves. there are many fans like that, and he thinks that’s fine. he likes being known for being a good friend to many people. which, i disagree with a bit bc expect better for yourself son, but it kinda ties back to how he really didn’t have as many friendships as a kid, so having them now is something he wants to hold onto even tighter.
what he does see as bad, are those that appreciate him only for his body. it’s not really common these kinds of fans are in front of him, making him feel uncomfortable, but he sees them online. sometimes on vlive, asking him to show off his body, or on social media posts telling him he’s not working hard enough on his body, or focusing on just how he looks versus what he’s talking about. he knows, logically, that being an idol means that people will appreciate your looks, and he’s all for appreciating the people around him for that, because he believes they’re all pretty, but what matters most to him is what makes them, them, and he doesn’t always feel that from certain fans who mostly only know him from his more sexual tuned solo projects.

back on about fansites, this is kind of an overall element hc i have, so if another element member disagrees this didn’t happen but based off of kard i like to think of how pretty much all element fansites take pictures of all the members lmao it’s not strictly just one or two of them, even if they’re technically for a specific member, and especially if one member doesn’t have a fansite at a location, the other/s will pick up the slack and take pictures of them. it’s quite a cute idol/fan thing, imo.
but because element has less fans overall, there are less chances for shitty fans to pop up. so rather than talking about One experience, i’d like to highlight that sung, for the most part, really loves his fans, from more than the pov of ‘i’m an idol so i must’. he tries his best to remember all of the fans who see them often, or follow them around the world, and even remembers fans that have moved on to other groups or other points in their lives. definitely the type to show up at events fans have made, or wish well to fansites who might be getting married. and he feels that way and wants to do that stuff even more because the fans he’s met are kind, nice, and respectful. he also has the benefit of being less affected by gender split in the kpop industry, as in, he has many female friends, and the voices of people saying it’s wrong or weird are much smaller than they are for idols in boy groups. getting a little off topic here, but that’s part of why behind the scenes i feel like other idols view being friends with sung as Safe. his fans aren’t likely to come after women he hangs out with, and if they do it’s a small number, and then yk, there’s the side that he’s a kind, monogamous gay man, which can give a different level of security to women

sung versus his public image isn’t the Most different thing in the world from his real self, but it’s certainly exaggerated in a way that can be uncomfortable. it’s kind of like gold star learned his personality, and saw how he functions in performance aspects and was like you know what these two sides of him would make for a great idol image, let’s give it to him. fans that get to know him on a person level can see the kind, excitable sung that is there quite often. this part, sung thinks isn’t very exaggerated. he censors himself, but who he is and how he acts in public isn’t different from who he feels he is. the other part is what he feels is over-exaggerated, to the point that it makes him uncomfortable. it feeds into the bad side of fan interactions as well, to have this sexual image. he’s no playboy, that’s not his image at all. however, he’s meant to be Sexc. it’s the first line of defense to reel fans in with. and it’s not really something sung can fight against either, because even if gold star didn’t lean into those two sides like they did, he’d likely still be viewed from those lenses.

you’d think it wouldn’t have to be such a big ask, but sung would like element to get their first win. that’s number one on the docket for him. element have very slowly been growing a korean fanbase, but it’s not enough, yet, or possibly ever. some part of him thinks it will never happen, but most of him is much too overly positive for that, and says that they have to try anyway. if not for him, for yujin, who rides a lot more on the group’s success than he does.
in general, he’d like more success for element domestically. he’d also like if they were able to gain back the international fans they’d lost from debut. but really, those are not all that important to him. most of all, sung hopes that element can just continue to exist as a group. he wants to be able to stay together and keep releasing music for as long as they want to, no matter how many people pay attention. he’d like to keep writing for them, and try out all different kinds of sounds and concepts that could fit each of their members, and use them to the best of their ability. he’d just like them to stick together. the group isn’t something he’s ready to give up, but the fear is always there.

how sung envisions his future and how i do are quite different. sung has an idealized version of his future, where he can dance and sing whatever and whenever he wants, where he’s legally married to daisuke and his whole family approves and supports them, where they have their six kids, and he and daisuke raise them well and they’re a good family unit together, and no one says anything bad about any of those things. he’d like to live in a she-ra universe where everything is pastel and no one has to come out, it’s just fine.
i, on the other hand, know this is a super unlikely scenario. later in life, after element has disbanded, i see that sung would be more open about his life. not that he would Necessarily open up about his sexuality, but that he wouldn’t hide it the same way. it’s unlikely he’ll have kids. it’s unlikely he’ll be able to be an idol in ten years’ time. but, he’d be able to have some kind of family unit, with his bio family who accept him a little better, daisuke, his found family friends, and pets. he’ll likely keep working as a songwriter, probably for idols as well, and he’d live a comfortable life, even if it’s not his dream life.

rose only started training to be a rapper a little bit before bee’s debut compared to the grand scale of her time as a trainee. it was back in late 2009, around september or october, when be began her rap trainee. the funny thing is, they never planned on having her become a rapper. one of the rap trainers overheard her playing around and rapping a few western songs with other trainees. it was something that she did quite often, especially with other english speakers. the trainer thought that she sounded pretty good and decided that they wanted her to have a few lessons. it was something that rose was excited about doing. all of her training up until that point had been vocal and dance centered, more so the former because of the strength of her voice. after five years of doing the same things, it was fun to switch it up and try something new. now don’t get her wrong, she’s not a great rapper by any means. in fact, she never considered herself to be a rapper and never wanted to be considered one. but she likes the little sing-song raps she’s gotten to do throughout bee’s career, something she’s grateful to her rap training for.

acting in a drama is something that rose has always wanted to do. music is her first love, but there’s always been a part of her that wanted to be on the small screen - and one day, the big screen. she actually has gotten love calls from production companies about having cameos in their dramas. she’s even gotten love calls from production companies about co-starring or even starring in a drama, especially around the time that bee were extremely popular with the public. the last time she got an offer to act was in back in april after a successful promotional cycle for ‘i like that’. and as always, bc entertainment denied the offer for her. in fact, she didn’t even know she got an offer for it until weeks later when it randomly came up in conversation with her manager. she wants to start off small, with just a cameo appearance or a supporting role in a drama, before slowly making her way up to leading roles. she knows that it’ll be a little bit more difficult for her with the stigma of being an idol turned actor, and the fact that she’s not in her teens or twenties anymore doesn’t help either. rose is determined to make it happen one day though - she just has to push back against bc a little bit to make it happen.
suwei is most obviously different from her other members. her image wasn’t by choice, but instead placed on her by circumstance. where these circumstances intentional?maybe, but she will never know.

but more than anything she wants her persona to be genuine. she wants younger fans to see her as just an ordinary girl. because that’s what she is. just a 20 something year old girl who’s living out a dream she’s always had. she doesn’t want to be put on a pedestal. she wants to be seen as personal with her fans. no secrets.
innocence. she’s not really experienced in the ways of the world. and her innocence shows through. she’s not quick to catch on to inappropriate jokes and flirting goes right over her head. she’s sheltered and it’s no secret.
youngjoo had originally started out as a whole with the idea of having or becoming an actress in mind, partially due to her increasing age, and the fact that by the time she debuted in silhouette she seemed to be the one that was the easiest in getting way too past her prime. with her acting talents that she slowly primed during the early years of silhouette, many people thought she was aiming to go for an idol actress route (something that joo herself had thought gold star had wanted for her as well, since she acted quite a lot in the early years of her own career). it was kind of to the point where people suspected that despite being the leader of silhouette, joo was intent on leaving silhouette to spiral on its own and that she pretty much got a lot of hate from silhouette fans when they first debuted, and she started getting a bit of popularity from filming her shows.
what surprised her a bit was the way gold star promoted her slowly for more solo activities ever since she nearly won the king of masked singer. youngjoo says that she was lucky to be the second runner up, but going on king of masked singer made both the public and gold star realise the gem that was her voice. youngjoo had been forced to sing in her upper register for almost all of her idol life, so utilising that lower register that had been well developed was usually something she only reserved for OSTs. considering that those OSTs weren’t necessarily popular, few people outside her fandom knew she had a wide range and such a capable voice. with king of masked singer unveiling that side of her, gold star started giving youngjoo more and more increased opportunities in putting out portals and her own productions of her written music. as of now, youngjoo has an august mini solo album on the way, possibly debuting her as a solo artist as well with her own brand of voice.

there’s not that many misconceptions when it comes to hyeju because thankfully, her actual personality ended up being marketable enough where bc didn’t have to completely change her. the laid back, unbothered persona that is shown on cameras is largely how she is off cameras as well. perhaps that’s why she’s been able to be in the industry for eight years without too many complaints or troubles.
however, the biggest misconception that the public has about her is probably about her family. hyeju has always been quiet when it comes to her family, and the only fact that she’s ever shared about herself is that she has two brothers. whenever she’s asked about her family, bc makes sure to cut those questions out or she simply steers it into another direction. it was surprising to her as well, but the company has been quite respectful of her family matters, and there’s very few people within the company that know the truth regarding her background.
there’s been rumors brought up as well as speculations made about her family. some believe that she’s tied to some mafia which is why she never talks about her family in detail. others say that it’s because her parents divorced at a young age, and that she only keeps in contact with her brothers. a few have correctly placed her with her actual parents, but her parents have done a good job at making sure that their names don’t become too involved with hyeju and so those die out quickly.

one thing that fans mention quite often is how much hyeju’s singing has improved over the years. though she’s always been labeled as the lead vocalist of lipstick, with goeun and minah’s presence, her vocals have never been focused within the group. truthfully, she was more pushed as the lead dancer which made sense because the group had two strong vocalists already. there really wasn’t a need to focus on the third best, and she liked that. hyeju was never a huge fan of being in the spotlight, and so she enjoyed having the label and not having to always step up to it.
however, the departure of goeun changed a lot of things for lipstick with one of those things being the amount of lines that hyeju got. she was quite surprised when lipstick started recording bingle bangle because the amount of lines that she had suddenly shot up so much. for the first time in her career, hyeju was a little nervous about her skills. she never really had to worry about being the strongest vocalist in the industry, but the added pressure of more lines and people watching them after goeun left had left her doubting herself.
despite all her worries, she didn’t have any big vocal mess ups during those promotions, and fans had actually started praising her and talking about how her vocals had been hidden all this time. she’s thankful for that, and it’s actually goeun’s departure that had her practicing her vocals even more which proved to be helpful when it came to her solo releases.

most of hyeju’s training period is uneventful. when she’s asked about her time as a trainee, she doesn’t have any interesting or memorable stories to share because she truthfully doesn’t remember a lot of it. her whole beginning was built not on desire but a need for survival. she had been hooked in with the promise of food and a roof over her head if she signed the trainee contract, and that’s how she ended up at bc entertainment.
one of the few things that she does recall, however, is the hushed whispers of people behind her back. to an extent, it was understandable. hyeju seemed to have popped up completely out of the blue and was kind of decent in both singing and dancing. when asked about her family, she didn’t answer and simply told them that she wasn’t as interesting as they made her out to be. and it’s not like she worked as hard as everybody else. even hyeju knows that she only did what she had to so that she wouldn’t be cut. the company must have seen something in her though because after about two years of training, she was put in lipstick’s lineup and given the chance to debut.
she knows that there were some fellow trainees that disliked her. it wasn’t her intention to appear so mysterious or disinterested, but she had more important things in her mind. her trainee life was just another chapter of her struggling to survive after running from home, and if people wanted to believe what they thought to be true, she simply let them. in the end, it’s her who ended up debuting anyway.

bc entertainment loves to capitalize off minah's motherly side. as one of the oldest members at debut and with her caring personality, fans were quick to brand minah the 'mother' of the group, none of the seriousness and strictness a leader is burdened with yet all the responsibility and grace of a good older sister. none of that is particularly untrue for minah. the problem, however, is that like most things, bc entertainment has magnified those personality traits and there is no space for anything that contrasts those. minah is meant to be gentle, soft-spoken, caring, perhaps even a little bit of a pushover at times. all of that clashes heavily with minah's strong sense of independence. she's not allowed to argue or protest, ideally speaking she doesn't even get angry or frustrated in front of the cameras, instead shes supposed to keep the peace and laugh things over without taking them too seriously. it's the vital difference between her idol image and her true personality. in reality, minah lives by the motto 'do no harm but take no shit', she's not out for an argument but she won't avoid them either. bc pushes her into a mold much softer and truly, at times much weaker than that. apparently, standing her ground could be seen as being 'unbecoming'. obviously, minah feels some type of way about it, the frail flower image pushed onto her but there isn't much she can do about it, if anything she can always just speak her mind in less public settings.

sometimes people (minah included) wonder if her dancing could be any worse. the answer to that is yes. prior to her training at bc entertainment, minah had never danced before which meant that when she joined the company, she had a lot to catch up on. truly, she'd never received proper vocal training either but minah had been singing as long as she could remember and while the lessons definitely helped her technique a lot, that progress came easily. no, dancing, that was definitely the toughest part. minah had always missed a natural sense of rhythm and she wasn't exactly flexible either. even in the most basic level dance classes, minah struggled to keep up. admittedly, she felt a bit embarrassed, trainees much younger than her that joined long after her surpassed her and her dancing skills with ease while she kept getting hung up on the most basic steps, spending countless extra hours and late nights to reach a mediocre level of dancing. by the time minah solidated her position in lipstick, bc decided to give up on trying to make her anything more than an average dancer, as long as she could keep up with the parts assigned to her, the company decided to let it be.

minah cares a lot about lipstick, probably more than some of the other members do. until recently, she wasn't even particularly eager for any solo schedules, more than content to focus on the group instead. with lipstick nearing their 8th anniversary she's definitely searching for a better balance between the both, slowly and surely daring to hope for more and more solo work even if she wishes to continue to combine both of them. ideally, minah would like to see lipstick grow into the type of group that stays together, even if they venture into their own work and because of it only coming back once every 2 or so years. but just because minah has a lot of aspirations with her group doesn't mean she's lacking any for her own career. having released one single so far, a well-received one at that, minah is hoping to continue that trajectory, eventually releasing multiple full albums, building a fanbase for herself to reaches out and beyond lipstick's usual demographic. next to continuing to release music, minah hopes to be given the opportunity to act in a musical. it's still closely tied to singing of course, which is her first and foremost passion, but musicals are a skill in their own right and minah is fascinated by them and hopes to reach that level one day.
