LITERALLY so correct in your tags on how just because Gregory's home and childhood looked great doesnt mean it actually was great. I think something I do believe would fit (at least in the case of my own Rab interpretation) is that depending heavily on the situation, Gregory is treated too much like a helpless child, and then the next minute mature enough to handle things on his own..? which is confusing and frustrating to grow up with. But Gregory's parents are definitely just people, and I think his relationship with them after they're gone is something .. intriguing since it doesn't seem to be something he'd bring up with his friends.

YES EXACTLY! Gregory is struggling with the worst of both worlds where he’s simultaneously being treated like a helpless kid and also being treated as a brat that should know better. I think there’s many things that he was forced to learn at a young age if simply for (what he perceives is) the sake of survival (this is assuming he didn’t end up homeless, which I’m still on the fence about myself in canon) but bc of this he’s acquired this idea that he has to act a certain way and however people treat him he probably deserves bc it’s how it’s always been. His parents weren’t perfect. They were human. And if he truly was an only child, they wouldn’t have had any prior experience with raising a kid. And since Gregory seems to be “not like other kids,” it’s very possible there’s things he needed that he wasn’t being given. Not out of hatred or malice, but simply misunderstanding and not knowing. Which he wouldn’t necessarily BLAME them for, but it would have still left some kinda impact that would affect how he feels about them as a whole.
