post ts ; Isaak gets more riled up, yeah. And he does show his anger, that’s really the one big emotion that he mostly freely shows to Reiner.

post ts ; I feel like a broken record by this point but it’s just how it is, Isaak obviously hides any pain or upset he’s feeling and he does that by just plainly bottling it up. It slips out at times in anger towards Reiner but mostly it’s bottled up and hidden away cause he’s not wanting to deal with showing that type of vulnerability.

post ts ; Reiner tries to make up first because he’s the one that created the problem. And of course it doesn’t work.

post ts ; Absolutely not, Isaak wouldn’t want Reiner touching him that way.

post ts ; Isaak, yes. Holds a grudge, and to be fair grudge sounds like too small of a word for the situation. And it is extremely hard for Isaak to let go or forgive because at the end of the day, the thing he holds a “grudge” against completely uprooted his life. He has to be angry at something, he has to hold onto the anger/pain.
is there something big that could potentially tear them apart if it was revealed?
post ts ; If it was revealed? If it’s in the way of if something hidden In canon was revealed, then no. The big thing that should’ve fully teared them apart already happened, and they still stuck together (even if it wasn’t exactly by choice.) But if answering just if there is something big that could tear them apart, then the only thing that could do that is if Isaak’s father got killed and it turned out to be Reiner’s fault. That’s the only thing that could tear them fully apart in canon, everything else with forced proximity they got over.

post ts ; What would make them continue being around each other already got answered, it’s forced proximity. If there wasn’t forced proximity they wouldn’t have stuck around each other, the circumstances of everything made them stick around each other, obviously. But for them to actually Get Back Together, Isaak would need healing time. That’s the main reason why even after 4 years of being around each other they haven’t gotten really any closer romantically. Because Isaak’s not getting his time to heal from the bullshit he went through regarding Reiner and being thrown out.

post ts ; I don’t have a clue. Though I think I can make up an answer without forcing it. Mmm… To be honest they don’t really have down time all that much once they join into the war fully, and so most of the time if theres some type of upset there, they don’t have anything to do other than just push it off and away. But if there’s down time, I can imagine Isaak enjoying going at it with his rifle, some practice. Maybe also a bit of wood carving, did I make that canon or did I just make it up in my head,,,?

post ts ; Oh it’s borderline impossible for Isaak to talk about any feelings he’s feeling with Reiner, openly, truthfully and without anger coming through. At the current stage, there isn’t anything that can be done to fix that I don’t think.

post ts ; Just protect? Reiner is more likely to protect Isaak. To Isaak, Reiner is capable of protecting himself. To Reiner, he knows Isaak could protect himself but he just wants to protect Isaak for one, and for two he sees Isaak as like… the more vulnerable one? Not physically, god no. But just considering he’s seen as this threatening to-be-guarded-at-all-times thing, and Reiner’s seen as a true warrior who has a titan in his control, he think it’s safer for him to protect Isaak than for Isaak to protect himself.

post ts ; Reiner. Isaak doesn’t worry all too much about injuries cause you know, the whole thing of Reiner being a titan and regenerating from any damn wound. And Isaak isn’t like that, he can get hurt, and that hurt will stay there, it can make Isaak incapacitated, it can have permanent effects on him. And that’s not good when they both know that if Isaak isn’t capable of performing his duties on the field with his rifle, then what good is he.

post ts ; I feel horrible constantly answering questions with “both” or “neither” but bro that’s just how it is. They both have their own reasons for why they are so extremely terrified of the other one’s death. For Reiner it’s just the fear of losing Isaak without anything else attached to it, he loves him, he doesn’t want to lose him. So his reason is more simple. For Isaak it’s a bit different because for him if Reiner died, that would mean Isaak’s 1. Completely alone. He would have nothing left anymore from Paradis. And 2. That ‘alone’ wouldn’t matter all too much when they could just kill him more freely. He’s scared to die. If Reiner dies, it’s very likely Isaak would be gone too.

post ts ; Isaak is the more likely culprit to yell. And since they already don’t argue much, there’s not many moments for Isaak to yell, but he has done it a bit.

post ts ; Both are very likely to save each other, I really can’t pick which one be the one more likely cause they really both try their hardest to keep each other safe on the field

post ts ; Reiner has more nightmares about Isaak. Actually got a whole scene where Reiner has a nightmare, that he’s had dozens of times before already, where Isaak dies right in front of him. The nightmares get worse after any bigger injury on the field. But also Isaak too has nightmares about Reiner from time to time, for him though it’s just the repeat of the betrayal. But there is also a scene where Isaak has a nightmare in which Reiner calls him a ‘blunder in his mission’ :)

post ts ; Neither of them comfort each other really. Reiner thought at one point tries to seek some type of comfort, reassurance about stuff that relate to the dream. But Isaak doesn’t give much of his comfort there.

post ts ; They think about each other all the time even on the battlefield, but they are both skilled enough to not let any of that thinking cloud their judgment on the field.

So to give a bit of really quick background. Isaak and Reiner (more specifically Reiner) avoided each other for the first few months I think (I'm a bit bad with the timeline currently. yeah I was really bad cause it's not a few months, it's a year and a month.) Okay so Reiner basically avoids Isaak for a year+ because he knows he's got a mission, and he knows that he would Love (with a capital L) Isaak if he really started getting closer. And obviously considering they were never close before that, cause the avoidance began from the day training started, no one really had any big clue of anything there, because there was nothing.
But then, a year+ into training, Isaak lightly pushes Reiner about the avoidance because Isaak doesn't want them to be on bad terms. One thing leads to another, they both confess, they stop avoiding each other, they slowly progress into a romantic relationship. (that they never actually talked about, they never officially say that from now on they are in a relationship.)
And see that, going from barely ever talking to each other to then being quite close, talking to each other all the time, training with each other, walking everywhere with one another, see now that is very noticeable for everyone. And they fucking clock it INSTANTLY. Even though they don't just kiss in front of everyone. But the touches linger, there's a few more seconds that they stare each other in the eyes, they speak to each other differently than they do with others, they're soft for each other, gentle.
And Annie actually confronts Reiner literally 2 days after the confession. Cuz, hahaha... He's falling for an enemy! That's not good for the mission! (and not good for Reiner, because at the end of the day Annie cares about that too.) That confrontation doesn't stop anything though, they continue being together.
As the time slowly goes by, yeah everyone in the 104th know that those two are a thing. And Reiner and Isaak just continue staying lowkey about it, just not secretive.
Also a note; I do see homophobia as still being a thing in their storyline. I just haven't actually incorporated it directly yet. Idk if I ever will, I might if I get a good idea, it could make for a nice scene perhaps if it's directed more at Isaak cause it could spike Reiner's protectiveness, I like that thought.

Comfort Item :: His Carcano rifle. In Marley, after being left with nothing from his own home apart from the relationship with Reiner, his rifle becomes the one item that brings him comfort, because it’s the only thing that is meant to be truly his own.

And death, even with all he’s lost where one would think it could be an escape, it frightens him. Especially if that death were to happen due to a higher ups decision, a death on the front-lines isn’t a worry for him, because in some fucked up way even after being betrayed the way he was by Reiner, he would be fine dying by Reiner’s side on the battlefield. But to be left behind and die on some orders pushed onto him? He hates that idea, and that pushes him to go forward, that pushes him to in some messed up way prove himself that he’s useful.
Self Perception :: While physically he perceives himself exactly as strong as he is, not overestimating his strength nor underestimating, he tends to find it hard to see himself as looking threatening.
