Found this cute fan taken vid from the filming of EP29, where Jiarui was swinging his arms around (presumably creating a lot of airflow with his big sleeves). Minghao complains "Aiyah, it's cold!" and uses the "freeze" one-word spell on him. Jiarui immediately freezes, until Minghao releases him with a snap of his fingers 😂

Bai Jiu, white flashes and fresh green leaves

I don't post much, so please bear with me.

Much as I adore ZYZ and love ZYC and their shenanigans together, so much has been said and is still being said about them, that I won’t add to that. For now. So instead, let’s talk about Bai Jiu and white flashes and fresh green leaves. Contains spoilers, possible spoilers and a lot of rambling. No Gifs, but I do have some screens if that helps.

In episode 10, after saving Pei Sijing from becoming a puppet, Bai Jiu comes to her rescue for a second time when she’s fighting Cheng Huang. Just when the rest of the team comes running in, Jiu leaps in front of her to block the attack. You’d expect him to go down and do an obligatory blood spit and be done with it, but instead, there’s a flash of white light and a shockwave.

Both the team and the bad demon shield their faces against the blast.

The camera focuses on ZYZ, who seems to look at his fingers, but is he? Could just be looking at Jiu and wondering what he just saw. And suspect that the baby doc may be more than meets the eye.

There is also a very explicit shot of a handful of fresh, green leaves in the mud at Bai Jiu’s feet. Any other leaves there are brown and there are no trees with green leaves that I could see in that street. He’s not carrying his medicine box on his back, so it’s not just a bunch of herbs that fell out. Could still have fallen out of his pocket, sure, but then they would have been herbs of a certain significance, and they are never mentioned as far as I remember.

I take this an early hint that Bai Jiu is not what he seems. Did he do this on purpose? Or is it instinct? Does he even suspect he’s not entirely human himself? That would explain why he’s so reluctant to play the pagoda demon’s game in Li Lun’s illusion in episode 18.

Where said spirit also accuses him of lying about being human (and snaring him in the tree). Even after passing ZYC’s sword test, that indicated he was not a demon, she doesn't let him go and insist he's lying. They all seemed to assume it was a trick from the demon, but was it?

Later on, in Li Lun’s illusion when ZYZ is caged and Jiu is the only other team member present, there is another of those flashes/shockwaves, which is then recognized (by Li Lun) as divine energy/power. To his delight, because that means he chose a good place to hide his core.

For the record, I know this was not the first hint, we already had Qing Geng’s tree that Jiu accidentally revived with his blood, but as far as anyone knew at that point, any blood could have done the trick.
