5th june was my birthday and i finally turned 26! ive had a couple of days celebrating my birthday, first i had a lowkey birthday party by having people come to my latest cinema event on thursday with two movies and pizza, and twelve people came! while we ate pizza the attendees started to sing me a birthday song and i even got gifts which was unexpected. when i got home from the event i got a adorable moomin-related gift from my mom, i might post pictures of it in my next post.
on friday, my actual birthday, i went to a mens choir concert. i know a couple of guys in the choir and one of them gave me a free ticket for the concert and invited me to the choirs afterparty. after the concert i got introduced to new people and we went together to the party where they had 10 pizzas. i had a lot of fun! and the cherry on top - the choir sang me a birthday song which was embarrassing but fun and sweet. i also got praise for the work ive done with the student organization lately. i had a great time and tbh if they have more parties i would love to go to them.
anyways, the most major thing, early friday my doctor messaged me with the results of my most recent bloodtest and gave me the best news i could ever get on my birthday - im not dying anymore. the last ditch effort medication worked. my folate levels are up and my homocysterine levels are down indicating i am back to normal levels for the first time in about seven years and i can finally start looking forward for once. in fact the medicine has worked so well that i have too much folate at the moment and my doctor has asked me to stopped taking the medication for the time being which is ironic. going from having no folate for seven years to suddenly having too much and needing to stop treatment for a moment is hilarious to me. so yes, ive had a great birthday, i am so glad this nightmare has seemingly ended. of course we still have to figure out why this is happening to me, but we have an actual working treatment which is the best thing. current theory is that i probably have a flaw with the MTHFR gene which would explain why methylfolate worked on me but not the normal folate supplements.
so yes, i am 26 and im feeling more alive than ever! i had the best birthday i could have ever wished for ⭐
