If I were to create a font for Dementia, things to consider:

Bigger type is easier to read. A font size of at least 12pt is good. 14pt is ideal

Once column is much easier for the eye to follow

Avoid italics, which is more difficult to read

Choose an  uncluttered font without serifs or curly bits. Use arial rather then  times new roman

White space around text is goof. Too many works on a page can be overwhelming 

Split information into manageable chunks and always finish a sentence on the same page it starts on.

Use of colour helps with interest and concentration

Using sans-serif fonts because the letter shapes are generally more readable on digital screens,

Using larger text sizes (and higher contrasts) to provide more information to the eye. This is especially important for older people whose visual system declines with age.

Font Ideas 

These are Font testers that i’ve been playing around with. I first thought of having font that looked like it was hand written, fitting with the theme of my hand drawn rabbit. Then after a one to one with my tutor (Jane) and showed me a font, that she thought could work with my designs.  Font is called : 28 Days Later.  From there I went onto the website ‘DaFont’ to look for more fonts that are of similar.
