he's got more muscle than king since he used to defend him in fights until king eventually said: bro i got this. and proceeded to not "got it".
he has thick black hair that he can never control so he's given up on it. he rarely wears a cap.
sam is actually quite smart. he and king were supposed to share a braincell but ever since king started crushing, sam has taken the braincell for himself and refuses to hand it back. instead of being a mean newsie like he used to be, he's mostly a jokester now. constantly pissing king off with jokes about him and his non-existent love life and the stupid things he's done to get noticed.
when he first arrived in brooklyn though, he was terribly aggressive and got into fights enough where he was on the verge of getting kicked out. what changed him was king begging him not to go since he knew he was going to get kicked out if he didn't change and he was just going to leave. he stayed and changed so he could look after the little bastard.
now, he's mostly calm and caring, stopping to give advice to king or any other newsies when he can.
sam has a family. but he doesn't want to be with them. he ran away at the age of five and let himself get taken in by an orphanage and then ran away and got picked up by the refuge.
he calls brooklyn his family and home instead.
