WELCOME TO THE FINAL (seriously this time) MONTH OF MAY-BEL!

Like @stanuary and @forduary, this month is dedicated to Mabel, when we take the time to show our favourite pig and sweater loving girl that we do care.

Now, I have said this before and every year we end up redoing it. But for real this time...THIS IS IT! This is the final year for various reasons. Mainly, I am not as invested in the concept and wanting to move on from May-bel month. Plus, I feel we have succeeded in it's goals of Mabel appreciation as the fandom perception of her now is far better than in 2020 when I first hosted it. Plus, with Stanuary and Forduary over too, I figured, why not end alongside them too the month of May-bel.

The rules are the same. This is a free for all event where you can do anything. Just be sure to follow each week's theme, keep everything SFW and tag your post with #MonthOfMaybel2026 so that we can find it. Also tag me if you would like.

So, what are our themes? Well, we have quite some fun ones to end the May-bel month era off on!

Week 1 is Carefree: Show Mabel in a carefree way as she is in the show. Full of life and always herself!

Week 2 is Family: Show Mabel with her family and/or found family.

Week 3 is Iconic: Show Mabel in one of her most iconic moments!

Week 4 then ends the era with Your Pick: This is a free for all where you can do as you please to celebrate Mabel.

The Month of May-bel 2026 has ended. I wanna thank all the artists, fanfic writers and more who participated this year. We had some amazing fan art, fanfics and edits made to celebrate and you all really did an amazing job. Thank you so much!

This year was also emotional as it is the FINAL Month of May-bel! As I said at the start of the month, the reason I am choosing to end it is due to various factors; the original goal of the event being achieved in that Mabel's overall reputation in the fandom is pretty much mended and better than it was when this event idea started, my own personal declining interest in continuing to host it to focus on other things and in general, ending it alongside other GF character month events that concluded this year like @stanuary and @forduary.

The original origin of May-bel Month was Mabel Pines appreciation week from 2015 and then later @themonthofmaybel blog which hosted it until 2019 when I took over after they failed to host one for 2020. I've said in past years that this would be it, but this year I genuinely feel that way due to the above points. Does that mean May-bel month is over forever? Not really. I don't own the event. I just took over hosting it. If you wanna take over in 2027 and host your own event, by all means, please do. I think the amount of art we had this year really shows there is still an interest in May-bel month. If you have the idea and the interest, feel free to do so. I'll of course be here to share and reblog all the work if so.

This really is the end of an era. I've hosted this event for a huge majority of my time in the Gravity Falls fandom. It's always been a joy and as someone who was out there defending Mabel from the insanity that she had to endure within the fandom's hate era for her, it makes me so happy to see how much the fandom once again loves and supports her. It makes all those years of support for her character worth it. And so long as that is the case, May-bel month will always be a part of that legacy. Gravity Falls is real, and it will NEVER die!

It's officially May! And with that, it's time once again for The Month of May-bel!

Like Stanuary, this month is dedicated to Mabel. And as we know, Mabel has had a pretty tumultuous relationship with the fandom in the past. While nowadays, that's more so a thing of the past, I still feel that each May we should take the time to show our favourite pig and sweater loving girl that we do care.

This year, to mark the resurgence of popularity Gravity Falls has had thanks to The Book of Bill, I figured we'd mark the month with GF books as the focus of May-bel Month. So, each week of May, we will have a different theme related to a GF book that you can partake in!

You can make fanart, write a story, cosplay, DIY, make an edit, etc. Whatever you choose, be sure to follow the theme of that week and the rules, stay SFW, and of course, have fun. Be sure to tag your post with #MonthOfMaybel2025 so that others can see it (and optionally, tag me too). You can make as many contributions a week as you please. Remember his is not a contest, it’s all for fun, so do the best you can.

With that said, here are the themes for this year!

Week 1 is about Lost Legends! Show Mabel in whatever way you want in relation to the book. Be it a story within it, an art style you like, a fanfic, etc.

Week 2, in celebration of its re-release this month on May 6th, is all about Gravity Falls' Coloring Book! So, remake or create something related to the coloring book however you please! If you don't have a copy, now you can finally buy one again and just in time for week 2, lol.

Week 3, is about Curse of the Time Pirates' Treasure; the most underrated Gravity Falls book! Just like with Lost Legends, show Mabel in whatever way you want in relation to stuff in that book.

Finally, Week 4 is all about either Journal 3 or The Book of Bill. Due to the more limited original content in both books about Mabel, this one gives you the choice of either or both. Just like the other weeks, do whatever you want, so long as it's in relation to them.

The Month of May-bel 2025 has ended. I wanna thank all the artists, fanfic writers and more who participated this year.

It's amazing to see the fandom so alive still and coming together for another year to celebrate Mabel. This year, thanks to The Book of Bill hype, I made the month all about Gravity Falls books. And the turn out was amazing. This was the first year in ages where so many artists participated in every single week's theme. There was so much amazing art that I couldn't fit it all in this collage, but it should give you an idea of how much incredible stuff was created by fans.

We also had some video and fanfic related submissions this year which were new. I am beyond thankful for all of you for your hard work.

I say every year IDK if I'll host this event again. But at the same time, there really isn't anyone else doing it. I mean, I started this mainly as a way to celebrate Mabel in a time when the fandom still over hated on her thanks to posts and videos that were biased and ruined her reputation in the fandom. But these days, that stuff isn't so much an issue now, as many of those bad apple fans have left, those videos are either now discredited or gone and most fans agree the hate was way too much. So, IDK now if there is still the same fandom momentum for events like this that are month long. The original Mabel Pines appreciation week in 2015 was started for this reason; to help spread awareness and love for Mabel in at time fans were hating on her, and that only was a week event.

But, as long as I'm still in this fandom, I'll continue this. So, if I'm still around in 2026, you can be sure May-bel Month will return. But until then, keep loving Mabel. Because she's a character with so much of it to give...so it's important for us to show back how much we really do care for her!
