Dolores Calderon - Dolores' Book Of Forbidden Knowledge - circa 1930
DM: The crowd outside Duke Farlaing's manor is the biggest you've seen for a while. You're the favourites to win the tournament and probably the most popular team overall, so you attract rather a mob as you go along.
Adam (playing Billie): And they had a go at us for still caring about the tournament...
DM: It's not that far from the estate to the palace as they're both in the wealthier area, and it doesn't take people long to work out where you're headed. Farlaing hovers close to Thaddeus and worriedly says, "Is your adventure in the palace? It won't work for the tournament. We have to be scried on, right? The whole palace has a forbiddance ritual on it."
Hamish (playing Thaddeus): ...Shit.
Tati (playing Seraph): Hey, that solves our scrying problem!
M (playing Kjell): It means we're on our own in there, though. No public-opinion safety net.
Hamish: I say to him, "We'll work it out."
Marijn (playing Kjell): "You're the main judge of the tournament, anyway, so as long as you see what we do it's fine!"
Tati: I say, loudly enough so the scrying lenses definitely pick it up, "And the palace guards will be around to make sure we're not doing anything dodgy. We won't be able to wander around on our own."
DM: Farlaing looks unconvinced.
Tati: I add, "If our adventure was outside Suda like Servants of the Sun, it's possible we'd accidentally find ourselves in a non-scrying location for part of it anyway."
Adam: That's true! I say happily, "Part of the hazards of the job."
You know what my favorite thing about Abjuration is? Between Guards and Wards and Forbiddance, it's the ultimate school for Wizards interested in having a tower. Who wants unexpected visitors? Not me, that's for sure!
Dnd Spells: Forbiddance
Forbiddance is a level 6 Abjuration spell unique to Cleric. Casting Time is 10 minutes or it can be cast as a ritual Range is Touch Requires a Verbal and Somatic Component spell ingredient is ruby dust worth at least 1000 gold pieces Duration is 1 day.
You create a ward against magical travel that protects up to 40,000 square feet of floor space to a height of 30 feet above the floor. For the duration, creatures can’t teleport into the area or use portals, such as those created by the Gate spell, to enter the area. The spell proofs the area against planar travel, and therefore prevents creatures from accessing the area by way of the Astral Plane, the Ethereal Plane, the Feywild, the Shadowfell, or the Plane Shift spell.
In addition, the spell damages types of creatures that you choose when you cast it. Choose one or more of the following: Aberrations, Celestials, Elementals, Fey, Fiends, and Undead. When a creature of a chosen type enters the spell’s area for the first time on a turn or ends its turn there, the creature takes 5d10 Radiant or Necrotic damage (your choice when you cast this spell).
You can designate a password when you cast the spell. A creature that speaks the password as it enters the area takes no damage from the spell.
The spell’s area can’t overlap with another of Forbiddance. If you cast Forbiddance every day for 30 days in the same location, the spell lasts until it is dispelled, and the Material components are consumed on the last casting.
