Enter the FordHub and the Exciting Future of Ford
Where Mobility Means More than Cars and Trucks
The future of Ford is in automobiles and general mobility. To emphasize the company's dedication to this new agenda, Ford opened its first-ever FordHub, an interactive brand experience studio, in New York City last month, just a week before Super Bowl LI and the release of their newest advertisement.
A Hub for the Transportation of Today and Tomorrow
The new FordHub is located in Westfield World Trade Center, un-coincidentally one of New York's most bustling transportation centers. It was designed to both show the public how the future of Ford involves thinking beyond the single-driver gasoline-fueled vehicle and to invite those same visitors to think and share their own ideas on the future of transportation by inspiring new ideas and encouraging discussions on the possibilities and ways to get there.
"Ford was founded on the promise of providing affordable transportation solutions to millions of customers, and this commitment still drives us today," said Stephen Odell, Ford executive vice president of global marketing, sales and service. "As we expand our business to be both an auto and mobility company, we're using new experiences like FordHub and our Super Bowl ad that talks about the future to explain what we mean when we say 'We go further so you can'.
At this new FordHub, visitors can explore an interactive world map to see the various mobility advancements the company and its partners are working on. This future of Ford map includes the latest information on autonomous and electric vehicles, bike-shares, ride-sharing and connected vehicles; all of which are important components of what Ford envisions for the "City of Tomorrow".
In addition to forward-thinking, the FordHub also acts as a transportation nexus for the here and now. Visitors can quickly and easily access a mobility map tapped into the beat of present-day New York City with an intuitive dashboard displaying all the current traffic insights on ferries, trains, buses, and traffic alerts.
But not everything in the FordHub is 2-d and informative. This location also offers immersive experiences including the ride Last Mile Challenge. Here, visitors ride wobble boards and attempt to race through a tomorrow-land on various forms of transportation, including e-bikes and autonomous cars. Visitors can also opt to don a virtual reality headset and engineer their own Mustang atop NYC's own Empire State Building.
An Ad to Bring it All Together
Shortly after Ford opened its doors to this new hub of transportation possibilities, it released a special 90-second ad highlighting -- for the first ever in automobile history -- both the short and long-term mobility solutions that go beyond Ford's dedication to providing dependable automobiles. This ad showcases the range of Ford's solutions, including both bike share groups and self-driving vehicles.
Of course, you can enjoy early self-driving tech as early as today. Our 2017 Ford models offer features like self-park steering (one of the first mass-market systems), adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and other driver-assist programs. Visit us at Ford Country for a test-drive!
