Ive been meaning to buy @breelandwalker 's book for years and eventually went "okay I'm clearly never getting around to it if I mean to get a physical copy, I'll get a Kindle version" ONLY TO FIND OUT I'VE HAD IT SINCE 2023?
I read just a bit of it last night when I found this out, and it feels so weird (in a kinda funny haha way) because I've been a witch since I was like 11 right, and this book has good information for beginners, and I had totally forgotten that you need to tell beginner witches basic stuff like "never leave a flame unattended" and "make sure the area is clear of anything flammable" and "don't light a candle where a pet has any chance of accessing it." Like... oh yeah. I guess that IS a basic thing people need to learn! It feels like remembering how kids need to be told "don't run into walls, it will hurt"
I was also SO happy to see a line talking about how people need to be aware of cultural appropriation and that things like smudging, spirit animals, and the word 'g*psy' arent okay. Like yessss we love a culturally aware and anti-racist witch!
I also really love how she isn't gendery. The book is SO gender neutral and I love it. So much of witchcraft is SO gendery and so transphobic, which is why when I was a teen I ended up stopping reading books about witchcraft other than non-spiritual books about herbology and natural remedies. Like the witch book scene in 2012 (when I was 14) was very "witchcraft is about connecting with your inner womynhood and worshipping the divine masculine and the divine feminine" like Dianic Wicca seemed UNAVOIDABLE and was basically the Basis for any witchcraft information I could get my hands on.
