The Forest of Dean: The Forest of Dean is a forest that is located in the western region of the county of Gloucestershire, England. This forest roughly has a triangular plateau. It is restricted by the River Wye to its west and north, the city of Gloucestershire to its east, and the River Severn to its south. This forest is known for its calming and scenic atmosphere. There is a lake inside the forest that once held an anglerfish. Hermione, along with Harry returned to this forest a few days after Christmas to search for one of Lord Voldemort’s hidden Horcruxes. They had to relocate to other parts of the forest to avoid being captured. While Hermione and Harry were camping in the forest it was snowy and the lake was frozen over. They took turns keeping a lookout, and only used one wand between them. During their time in the Forest of Dean, Severus Snape anonymously placed the Sword of Gryffindor in the lake before it frozen over and led Harry there by using his Patronus. Ron, who had previously abandoned them, found Harry under the ice with Salazar Slytherin’s Locket which was currently around Harry’s neck. He saved Harry, and later destroyed Salazar Slytherin’s locket with the Sword of Gryffindor. Rubeus Hagrid was born in or near this forest in 1928. This is most likely where he gets his West County accent from.
