Occasionally it pays off in unexpected ways and I sometimes see the strangest things. I often photograph red efts that I see in the forest. They are the juvenile form of the Eastern newt (Notophthalmus viridescens). But I had never seen this before. A bright green caterpillar crossing the newt like a bridge. Funniest thing was that the newt waited patiently for the insect to cross before moving on. I'd rather not clutter up my blog with this nonsense. Do you realize that it takes 16 pounds of plant food to make 1 pound of meat protein? All that soy that's cutting down the rain first is being fed to cows and other animals, not humans. Meat eaters fund this deforestation by paying for the meat. The UN has said that animal agriculture is the #1 producer of emissions. I can't send links in an ask so please look it up.

/Also, we’ve been over this. The case for animal sentience is very strong. Legally perhaps they are not regarded as sentient but it seems that they actually are. So what do you call it then when one needlessly kills an animal? I will not be responding anymore. Have a nice night (day?)/

If you actually read the sources I gave you, you would see that “Forces driving the expansion of soybean production include higher international demands for soybean prices, and rapid economic growth in China (9%per year)5 which consumes great quantities of soybean products” (worldinfo.org).  Higher international demands for soybean prices are due to increased human demand for agrofuel, as cattle are fed corn and chicken meal for the most part.  Livestock feed is a secondary source of demand.  Amazon soybean carbon debt is 319 years.  Sit on that for a while.  Illegal soy production in the Amazon is now considered as bad a crime as poaching.

As of 2014, the UN has declared that the greatest emitter of carbon dioxide is the burning of fossil fuels, namely coal and oil.  This has been the case since the Industrial Revolution.  http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2014/04/11/united-nations-climate-change-carbon-emissions/7593019/  Maybe you should drive less and consider adding meat to your diet.

As for the link you sent me earlier about animal sentience, Marc Bekoff references articles discussing chimpanzees, which I previously acknowledged as non-human persons.  The ability to feel pain is based on neurotransmission, not subjective consciousness or acknowledgment of the self.  A fish will not know itself in a mirror nor be able to differentiate itself from another in its group.  Mice, rats, and ravens are also referenced and while I’m not sure about the mice, rats and ravens are indeed incredibly intelligent.  However, not every animal has the capability of complex sentience, which you seem to believe.

Needless killing of an animal is animal abuse.  But when that animal’s body is used for a purpose that can be sustained over time, and that animal is killed humanely, it is acceptable, environmentally and morally.  It’s time to accept that.

Hey I'm 16 and have pots too do u have any advice I just got diagnosed?

Hello! When first getting diagnosed, think of the acronym STEPS: S- salt. Eat as much salt as you can! POTS patients need salt to retain blood volume. 10,000 mg a day is what you should shoot for. T- take in fluids. Just like the salt, fluids help retain blood volume. You should be drinking 3-5 liters a day. E- exercise. A POTS patient needs to do 30 minutes of cardio a day to strengthen their muscles and vessels. If you can’t do 30 minutes, do whatever you can! P- prescription medication. Some POTS patients may need to take a beta blocker to help with tachycardia and passing out. S- support! Having a good support system or outlet is great when dealing with a chronic illness! The potsie community is always a good place to go if you need help or advice. We’re all here for you, hugs!
