The ones of you who are following me for a longer time know already that I have a soft spot for English manor houses. Today’s photo shows the back of Athelhampton House which my husband and I toured a few years ago. This amazing Historic House build in the Tudor style is truly worth a visit if you are in in the area of Dorchester, Dorset. Not only is the impressive house beautiful to look at from the outside but it can also be visited from the inside and holds a stunning collection of English furniture from Jacobean to Victorian. The surrounding Architectural Gardens are absolutely exquisite, too. Athelhampton is still privately owned by the Cooke family. Can you imagine how it must feel to step out of these doors, sit down on the bench and have tea and look out into the private gardens? You can make this fantasy a reality if you happen to have £ 7,500,000 handy. Athelhampton is up for sale now. Kidding aside, let’s hope that whoever will buy it continues to keep it open for the public.
