"I’ve been watching episodes recently and Mung and Truffles just reminded me of them when they argue" ... You ... you *do* know who voiced the former, right?
Hehhe I doo x3 That was one of the reasons why xDD All I could think of when I heard her voice was a very sassy Sheegor.
“Monsters aren’t real,” Terry sighed, shining a flashlight into Traci’s closet for the fifty-second damn time that night. “You know that, Peanut. Nothing in here can hurt you.”
“I heard it again!” Traci insisted, throwing her tiny seven year old hands up. “And I saw it run away when you turned on the lights! I know it’s here!”
“Traci, you’re a big girl. You don’t need to believe in silly superstitions like monsters hiding in your closet or under your bed. What do I say about monsters?” Terry crossed his arms.
Traci scowled, hugging her knees together as she reluctantly answered, “Real monsters are actually just upper class people trying to take advantage of those they climbed over to get to their spot at the top.” She glared at him with all the intensity a child could possibly muster. “But I saw it! It ran under my bed! Look under there!”
“Fine. I’ll look under there one more time.” Terry groaned as he laid down on the floor to shine the flashlight down into the small gap beneath her little bed. “But there’s still no such thing as-”
The flashlight beam caught a pair of gleaming red eyes.
Me: What if I ship glowy pilots Hal Jordan and Larry Trainor together? Also Me: Larry is a sweet radioactive boy who probably does not need a human disaster boyfriend making his life harder.
I’ve read two things with Larry but he deserves better than Hal.
jimmy olsen + some sort of cosmic horror-y The Thing style monstrosity
It came from the sky. They thought it was a crashing plane, at first, or a huge drone, but it wasn’t. It smashed into the heart of downtown Metropolis, too small to be a plane or a rocket and too big to be a bird or a drone. At first the theory was that it was a meteor, but that was soon disproven when it began to move.
Jimmy had been already on the scene, spared from the collapsing rubble by some miracle or another. His camera was undamaged enough that he could snap a few pictures of the damage as he crawled forward on his knees. They got scraped and bloody, but it was a small price to pay to be able to say that he was on the scene when it came from the clouds, that he was the one who got pictures of it. Whatever it turned out to be.
There was too much dirt and dust and smoke in the air, so he pulled his shirt up over his mouth as he tried to focus his camera on the figure deep within the heart of the debris. When he pressed the button and the flash went off, though, it was easy to see that its head-did it have a head?-had swiveled up and around and was now looking directly at him, bright red eyes piercing through the smoke.
Jimmy didn’t have time to duck out of the way before it was lunging for him, and it was a little shameful to admit that he screamed out Lois’s name, of all the people to fruitlessly beg for help, as it grabbed onto his shoulders and pinned him down to the broken concrete.
He tried not to cry or show any signs of fear. He’d been in dangerous situations before. Lois took him all kinds of places and he took pictures of and for all kinds of people. This should have been nothing. It absolutely wasn’t nothing.
The creature’s eyes were so red. So, so red, and so close to his own. Like too burning scarlet suns. Its skin was milky pale and almost transparent, spotted through with what might have been deep purple-brown bruises. It had a human face that looked all wrong on its too-big, lopsided body, and when it opened its mouth Jimmy could see that the inside of it as well as its throat and tongue were dark black, like they were rotting. Jagged red wings unfurled from its back, gossamer-thin, and pale green crystals pierced through its skin in places, emerging from bloody holes.
It was wearing clothes, kind of, or maybe it just was draped in the remains of a flag that it had crashed through. Blue fabric stretched thin around its legs, knotted in a way that looked painful around its wings, and clutched in the same clawed hands currently holding Jimmy down. Its mouth opened too wide as it spoke to him again, in a voice that didn’t sound nearly human enough to be legible as the word-“Again.”
Again. Again? Did it want him to take another picture? Hardly daring to breathe, he fumbled for his camera in the dirt and pulled it up over his face in one fluid motion, barely able get his hands to stop shaking long enough for it to focus. Those sunlike eyes kept staring at him as he clicked the button, and this time there was no reaction to the click of the camera and the flash that accompanied it.
As soon as the picture was taken, it jumped back off Jimmy’s chest, and he managed to get two more photos before it took off, almost crashing through another handful of buildings before its wings broke through the fabric bindings fully and it was able to fly straight. Headed west. Headed away from where it had crashed.
It was all anybody was able to talk about for a long time. Jimmy was the center of attention for most of it-the thing touched him, it spoke to him, spoke English to him, of all the languages it could’ve chosen to use. He got pictures of it, clear ones, ones that were spread throughout the world.
About a week after the incident, Perry started to hire new people, some of them full time employees, some of them just there to help work the extraterrestrial case. Cat introduced them all to the office, and Jimmy didn’t think much of most of them. He was busy enough already without having to mingle with them. Maybe once this all died down he could get to know them a little better.
Today’s hire was some guy from a tiny farm town. Clark Something. He seemed nice enough. Went around the room and shook everyone’s hands. He stayed by Jimmy’s desk the longest though, and smiled wide when Jimmy finally had the chance to look up and properly introduce himself.
All Jimmy noticed about him, though, were his bright red eyes like suns and his black tongue.
It was confirmed in 2009 that Jimmy Olsen’s mind is hard to read because it’s strange and slightly inhuman now, due to all his transformations and experiences over the years changing him psychologically, bit by bit.
if you did read it all it would be saying was superman superman superman superman superman CLARK KENT superman am i gay? superman superman superman superman superman anyway. it’s better this way.
The Marvel Family corner of the DCU is so surreal... there's this constant spirit of optimism and wonder to it, while simultaneously having all this horror out in plain sight. Like, Mr. Mind for example is an adorable-looking 1 ft tall worm that was canonically put on trial and sentenced to the electric trail for his crimes, including murdering 186,744 people in cold blood.
dont they have a bunny. i like the bunny. thats my marvel family#hottake.
