FORTY-THREE | AXON
Things hadn’t been easy for Orion. His parents had just packed up and left for California, giving him an awkward period of time where he wouldn’t say he was homeless, but he definitely didn’t have a house to sleep in. He didn’t have any plans for college. All around, he felt lost. When he came across this, he had no other choice.
Orion Brennon did a lot just based on hope. He hoped he’d graduate high school. He hoped he’d meet the love of his life, just like in the movies. He hoped he’d find his calling. He functioned on a leap of faith, and that’s what he was looking at now. He hadn’t told anyone yet. It was still a secret to anyone but himself. After spending the last month working out the kinks, he stood in his very own parking lot.
Calling his best friend to help him out, he gave Axel the address but said nothing else. He was an avid artist. He painted all the time...just not walls. Thankfully, one of the rooms had a fridge in it where he had gotten snacks and whatnot to keep him fed while he was working.
Orion walked out the lobby door when he heard a car pull in. Clearly, no one would see this sorry state of a motel and think they were open for business, even on the south side of Chicago. It was a fairly big jump for him, living in Gurnee to south Chicago, living alone, buying a motel. He stood next to Axel with the biggest grin on his face. Looking up at the building he lulled his head to the side to talk to him.
“Welcome to The Cosmic.”
