Al-Hasān Al-Basrī (رحمه الله) said:
"Know that the steps you take are two steps
• A step in your favour,
• A step against you
So be careful where you come and where you go."

Shaykh Ibn Bāz رحمه الله said:
"If you train yourself to pardon people, your soul will relax, your heart will be tranquil and your rank will become great with Allah and with His slaves"

Imām Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:
“The one who is truthful does not care about his status in the eyes of creation.”

The Narrations are the Religion
It is reported that Muḥammad b. Sīrīn said, “They used to consider themselves on the [right] path as long as they followed al-athar (guidance of the Sunnah and Salaf as passed down in the narrations).”

It is reported that ‘Uthmān b. Ḥāḍir said, “I said to Ibn ‘Abbās: ‘advise me.’ He replied, ‘It is upon you to be upright, follow al-athar, and beware of innovating [in religion].’”

It is reported that ʿAbdullāh b. Al-Mubārak said, “Let it only be the narrations (al-athar) that you rely upon, and take from reasoning and opinion that amount that will help you to understand and explain ḥadīth.”

It is reported that Sufyān Al-Thawrī said, “The narrations (al-āthār) are the religion.”
And it is reported that he also said, “A man should not even scratch his head except based on a narration.”

It is reported that Al-Musayyib b. Rāfi’ Al-Asadī said, “We only follow, we do not innovate; we follow behind and do not start anything [in the religion], and we will never stray as long as we adhere to the narrations.”

It is reported that ʿUmar b. Al-Khaṭṭāb – Allāh be pleased with him – wrote (by way of instructions):
Learn Sūrah Al-Barāʾah (At-Tawbah), and teach your women Sūrah Al-Nūr. And have them wear silver for adornment.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم.
وَعَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " لا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ ".
Narrated Anas:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself."
