Best of QL 2025 - A Few Favorite Characters

In no particular order, here are a few favorite characters from this past year!
Guo Chengyu, Revenged Love
Jiang Xiaoshuai, the sassy little doctor, was my very first favorite in this unexpected series - and I do absolutely adore him still. But Guo Chengyu... where do I start? He's a fuckboy, he's a rival, he's a frenemy and a worstie, he put his oldest friend through hell... and yet, actually, none of that is true. His charm, his sincerity, his desperation, his scheming, his willingness to make amends at all costs... god what a character. He gets to live in my pocket.
Aoki, Kieta Hatsukoi
To be very fair, I adore Ida as well... there's just something about Aoki's earnest silliness that is so endlessly charming. He's so cute and sweet and kind to all the people around him, even when they don't deserve it. He's a little pookie and he deserves the world.
Jungwoo, Ball Boy Tactics
I love this sassy, sassy man. I love his confidence and I love his openness and sincerity and I love his sense of humor most. What a treasure. 🤩
Count Thee, Memoir of Rati
I will always love a man who falls ass over teakettle and doesn't look back. Thee chose Rati from the second he saw him and then made the rest of his life about finding a way to be with him forever. He's so unapologetic and so brave - he wasn't going to let anything stop him from loving his person, not even death, and I adore him for it.
Yang Zixiang, See Your Love
He's so good! He's so sweet! He's so sincere! And he's so adorable! Surrounded by so many awful people with the worst of intentions, he still manages to be kind and forgiving. He's one of the most emotionally intelligent characters this year, and did I mention he learned sign language in about a week through the power of love? 🤩
Han Taejoo, Where Your Eyes Linger
He's such a little brat! I love him. Spoiled, obnoxious, possessive, an outrageous flirt... what a character. He's got big doe eyes and daddy issues and a heart that won't rest until he can get what he wants.
Xiao Shuhe, Kill To Love
XIAO SHUHE!!! Dear god. I don't know how to begin to discuss this beloved man. The devoted brother, the soul of a poet, the hopeless idealist, the prince of smiling faces hiding terrible sadness, the unwilling ruler, tragically caught between love and duty, love and power, love and vengeance. My entire heart.
Shin Jaemin, Secret Relationships
Here he is, my beautiful babygirl with the disorder!!! My delightful terrible deeply fucked up gorgeous little murder princess! His obsession was terrifying and fascinating to watch unfold, as all his chess pieces smashed on the floor and took him down with them. He is SO toxic and I love him so so much. He earned his own personal tag this year - #jaemin babygirlism - and I stand by my cancelled wife. 😂 I just think he's neat!!!!!

Ai-oon, Pluto the Series
The things this woman suffered and sacrificed. I'm glad she got her happy ending, but oh the pain along the way. She never expected to fall for May, but in a way they were meant to be long before they ever knew each other. You are worth it, baby girl! (And can I just add - Namtan killed it with this performance, I am in awe of her.)
Tingting, Fragrance of the First Flower
She's a woman who has always known what she wanted, and even though it took years, she fought for her heart. Unapologetically herself at every stage of life. Even with all the bullshit she had to put up with, she was devoted and trying to do the right thing at every turn. I love her.

Sakura, The Fragrance You Inherit
She's so tragic but you would never know!!! She loves Mone unapologetically but so quietly, willing to make so much space for the shape their lives have taken in the years they spent apart. She became a mom unwillingly but turned it into her greatest blessing. She takes painstaking care to ensure that everyone around her is happy. God she is so lovely and heartbreaking. I would kill for her.
Shinpei, Two Husbands One Wife
My beloved poly bisexual!!! He's such a goddamn sweetheart, and so terribly earnest in the way he loves and the way he communicates. He gets it, you know? I adore him.
