The other day my boyfriend and I had to take his mom to the hospital for a doc appointment and we parked in a parking garage. So we got one of those little ticket thingies from the valet that we have to give back to them when we leave to get our car.
Later that day, we are walking around waiting for his mom to finish with the doc, and my boyfriend all of the sudden gets a very panicked look on his face. I ask him what’s wrong and he says he doesn’t know what he did with the valet ticket. Keep in mind we’re rarely ever in the city and never use parking garages or valet so we don’t know you can just show them your ID and get the car back with no problems. So we both go into “oh shit” mode.
He starts frantically searching his pockets, I check my jacket, we even retrace our steps in the hospital, looking on the ground. We were about to give up when finally I remember that he hadn’t checked his wallet.
He says, “But I know I didn’t put it there.”
and I say, “Well just in case...”
It wasn’t there. But the point is.. an extra $20.00 was. Hidden in the depths of his wallet; somewhere we never would have looked if we hadn’t been searching like mad. Neither one of us know where it came from or why it was there but it was very lucky because we were running quite low on money that day. I knew immediately it was Hermes and gave him a shout out.
We never did find the parking ticket, but right after finding the $20, a guy who worked as a valet walked past us and we got his attention and asked him what to do. He told us just to bring ID and sign a paper and we’d be fine. We were both like.. CRISIS AVERTED.
