A little different post then usually. I found a turtle in my hometown. Detmold to be exact. I looking for its owner but no luck at the moment.

Kid logic, or maybe I should say male logic. The Boy had his turtle last night with him. He got up to eat dinner and put the turtle in his pocket. In his POCKET! He then realized after dinner - like 30 minutes later - that she was no longer in his pocket. We spent 15 minutes looking for her. She crawled under the dryer. I'm just glad we have her back. He is no longer allowed to take her out of the tank. My biggest question is, why in the world did he think his pocket was a good place for her? Girls never do stuff like this. Rofl

Turtle troubles

Hey folks,

So, yesterday I was out in the barn with my dad helping troubleshoot some construction issues with the chicken coop (yep, this is my real life) and we noticed that one of the cats had caught something which the dog was trying to steal from him. When we went over to check out what the fuss was about, we discovered that Hamish (the cat) had caught a tiny baby turtle. 

I’ve since named the silver-dollar sized turtle Put-Put. He is currently living in an old roaster pan I found in the barn and filled with dirt, etc.

Part of me really wants to keep him because he’s super cute and I like turtles. Not to mention that I’m not allergic to him, which is a plus.

But another part of me is nervous because I’ve never had a pet turtle before and I can’t seem to get this little guy to eat anything. He’ll swim and I can see him drinking water, but I can’t get him to nibble on the bits of meat I give him (that’s what the Google recommended).

I’m just worried that I’m going to accidentally hurt or neglect the little guy.

I would really appreciate any thoughts y’all have. Especially if you’ve owned turtles in the past. Help?
