regardless of whether u headcanon him as having braces currently or not, i feel like orin absolutely had them when he was a kid. he got so tired of them that he eventually ripped them off himself before high school
absolutely 100% has asthma (peep the “i’m a childhood asthmatic” line in the original “(now) it’s just the gas”!). he hardly ever uses his inhaler, but used to rely on it a lot as a kid, and kept it on his person in high school
orin smokes, but is trying to quit. started smoking around 12 ish and it did not bode well for his asthma either. when he attended dental school, he started using nitrous oxide as a way to “quit” cigarettes
orin’s family is italian (come on… scrivello) and he knows quite a bit of the language
he knows how to cook because of his mama, who by the way would cook him big meals all the time
his parents weren’t… great. his father beat him badly and his mother became neglectful, verbally abusive, and an alcoholic after his father left (orin was 10). his way of coping was through violence. (side note, yes, i took some stuff from mark catlett’s thesis for this!)
secretly, orin is a masochist as well as a sadist, but he represses that side of him because he doesn’t want to be weak (mm toxic masculinity)
