I know that fox Wild is a popular hc, and I've always thought that a gray fox suits him well :)

He doesn't regret stealing the necklace.
I like to think the scars left bald spots in his fur. I don't know, it looks pretty cute.
(Ignore the fact that this message sat in the inbox for two months. I only found out that's where the requests were going last week, now I will be able to attend to the requests jsjsjsjs. I apologize 🙏).
Edit: I colored this at 2am and now that I looked at it again I didn't like some details, so I modified the drawing.
If Wild were an animal, what would he be? I've seen multiple interpretations of both of them, but I was wondering what the community leans towards more. Also, if you chose 'something else', lmk in the comments which animal you think Wild would be!
Dammit i just want ONE HOUR to think Twilight and Wild meet eachother, Spider-Man meme, and immediately transform to excitedly hop in circles together. ONE HOUR.
Link growled angrily as the laughing voices in the fog pulled him back to the beginning of the forest again. Wolf nudged his hand wearily. The pair had been trying to get through the forest for ages.
Link looked around. Surely there was some way to get through. The forest spirits couldn’t keep him out forever. Maybe it was like the shrines! A puzzle of some kind…
Ah-ha. He laughed at himself, and Wolf looked up curiously. Link walked over to pick up the torch that lay on the ground, lighting it, wondering how he had missed it in the first place.
“Look Wolf!” He cried out giddily. “We have to follow the sparks!”
Wolf stuck his tongue out, tail wagging. The two were quick to make their way through the foggy forest this time, turning with the sparks to follow the invisible path.
The little community they found at the centre of it all was playful, kind, and helpful. The koroks showed Link to the Great Deku Tree, although they seemed to be more interested in playing with Wolf.
The Great Deku Tree greeted Link, telling him about the sword that seals the darkness.
“And you, young wolf.” He said, turning his attention from present hero to past. “It had been a long time since I met you last.”
Wolf bowed his head respectfully, while Link spoke up, confused. “You’ve met Wolf before?” He asked.
“Hmm.” The Great Deku Tree hummed. “A long time ago, there was another hero. Do you know this story, child?”
He may have, a hundred years ago, but it was difficult to recall now. The Great Deku Tree seemed to read his expression, and continued. “He was called the hero of Twilight. They said he also had the form of a wolf.”
Link’s eyes widened as his head swivelled from tree to wolf. “You mean like… Wolf is a hero? Are you a hero, Wolf?”
Wolf seemed to roll his eyes at the Great Deku tree, before he gave a joyful little bark, resting his head on Link’s knee and looking up at him.
“Cool.” Link breathed.
-
Link panted heavily, hands shaking as he raised the glowing blade. It chimed quietly in his head. He had pulled the sword that sealed the darkness. It had finally deemed him worthy. Wolf padded over silently, positioning himself behind Link, so when he sank down he had something to lean against.
“Did you have to pull this sword?” He asked. “Did you have to prove yourself worthy, too?” Wolf snuffled, pressing his nose to Link’s side in a comforting way. Link raised the blade to examine it again. It seemed brighter than before, and almost felt like it was… pulling his hand towards Wolf? Wait what was it doing-
The blade touched itself to Wolf’s fur, then there was a flash of light. Link cried out, sitting up. If he had injured Wolf he would never forgive himself. But… Wolf was gone. In his place was a Hylian man, looking slightly confused.
Link rubbed his eyes. Huh?
“Um…” He paused, and the man’s eyes focussed on his own. The same bluish-grey as Wolf’s. Now that Link thinks about it, the man’s tattoos also seemed to match the pattern etched onto Wolf’s fur. “Wolf?” He asked.
The man - Wolf? - blinked in surprise. “Uh, I s’pose so. Nice ta’ meet ya as a Hylian, Link.”
Wolf-who-was-not-a-wolf-but-actually-a-Hylian held out his hand in greeting, a sly grin pulling at his lips. “I’m Link.”
-
Wolf whined, looking down at himself, confused. Link was also confused. “Hold on.” He said, raising his hands. “I thought we changed you back with the sword?” They had. Wolf, whose name was actually Link, who the pair had decided to call Twilight after his hero title (Because obviously they couldn’t both be Link), had been a Hylian the whole time the pair had been in the korok forest.
Link crouched down. “Maybe’s there’s not enough magic out here to keep you in Hylian form.” He said, thinking outloud. He drew the sword from his back to examine it. Gently, he touched it to Twilight’s back. Nothing. Link sighed.
“Guess it’s back to like before, now.” He said, standing up a little sadly. The wolf hero pressed his nose to Link’s hand. Okay. The gesture said. It’s okay.
Link managed a small smile. Yeah, he thought. I’ll always be okay, with you.
-
Link leant against the side of the Great Fairy fountain, passing an apple over to Twilight. Twilight, this time. Not Wolf. His guess about the amount of magic in the area affecting the wolf-hylian transformation must have been somewhat correct, because the second they entered the secluded little hideaway, Twilight had been back.
“Twilight?” He asked.
“Mhm?” The man replied, hand held out lazily as a fairy cautiously came to rest on his palm.
“When this is all over, do you think you’d have to… leave me?” Damnit. Link hadn’t meant to sound that pathetic in his question.
Twilight looked over, some unrecognisable expression on his face. Animals were so much easier to read.
“You that eager to get rid of me?” He joked.
Link shook his head, fiddling with the hem of his tunic.
“Hey, kit. Look at me.” Twilight said, drawing his gaze up. “I don’t know.” He admitted. “But I promise to be here for you as long as I can. As long as you need me.”
“What if I always need you?” He whispered.
Twilight pulled him up into a hug. “Then I’ll always be here. Even if it doesn’t seem like it.”
-
Link stared at the black rock-like thing on the ground. His companion brother was gone. He had disappeared, and Link hadn’t even gotten to say goodbye.
Cautious fingers reached out to grab the rock. Twilight had worn something like it around his neck, right? Maybe it was a part of his. His hand clasped around it, and there was a flash of colour, not unlike the magic he felt around a blood moon, but warmer. Gentler.
Was he crouching down? The trees seemed a lot taller. You know, now that his vision had cleared, the colours all seemed different too. Muted, almost. And he… holy Hylia. He had paws. Four little legs. Fur?
“I don’t really understand it.” Twilight had said. “But I think your animal form reflects you. Who you are inside.”
No wonder Twilight used to call him Kit. A butterfly fluttered past, and all thoughts of how to change back vanished from Link’s mind. He had just defeated a giant magic pig. It was only fair he got to play around a bit.
I’ve been thinking about a doing a feral!Wild linked universe AU where he can shift into a fox after being blessed by the Lord of the Mountain and I really wanted to draw it so yeah! fox!Wild!
It's not very fleshed out- I need to do some more plotting lol. In essence, it's another one of those "member of the chain gets turned into their animal dark world for by twi's crystal" fics. I hc Wild's dark world form to be a fox :)
Somehow, Twi and the other adults in the room are unwillingly seperated from the group, Twi drops his crystal on purpose so they have a better chance of finding them. Maybe? That may not be the ideal plot. But the point of it all is Wild gets to be a fox, makes forest friends, is traumatised by meeting a rabid fox, doesn't want to transform back cuz it hurts, and I get to wax poetic about all the wonderful characteristics of autumn. Happy ending. I don't want it to have too much plot so that anyone who just wants to read about Wild having little fox adventures can enjoy it. I may just do one shots. I got no idea!
I do want to do illustrations if I do a full fledged planned out fic, so this is definitely a long term project lol
