How The Main Characters of Lackadaisy + Savoys Would Act As Parents to GN! Child

Note: I wrote this as Reader as the child, and most are written as being single parents except for Mitzi, even then it's a brief mention. Serafine and Nico's are pretty entwined. This turned out to be half analysis oh well. Exams and school after have burnt me out hard, but this was a fun 'coming back' post to write :))

Rocky Rickaby
Rocky would definitely believe he was the 'fun' dad, which he is! But no-one else except for him and his child would think so (They would think he should have never been a dad).
Rocky has been displayed as well... Rocky! Spontaneous, combustible, daring and caring, he would be the type to let his child play his violin, go on random adventures for 'the memories!' and share slightly burnt syrup overloaded pancakes with. You would have tons of cherished childhood memories with him. Rocky has also been displayed to be outlandishly, speaking in verses, being hyperactive and all over the place, as well as insecure and has attachment issues. This behaviour would transfer over to childcare as he would be overdramatic and silly to make you laugh at the best (and worst) times, comfort you by distracting you with a ridiculous poem he has thought up on the spot when you are upset, and randomly ask you if he is a good enough dad. Rocky would either coddle you to the extreme, or not even notice if you are doing something that could harm yourself, no in-between.
Rocky would want you to go follow your dreams, but at the same time find stability and ground, so at times, he may seem confusing and hypocritical to you, but in reality all he wants is to see his child in a better place than he once was growing up.
Ivy Pepper
Ivy would be the type of mum that can be strict and overbearing at times, but you know she truly loves you and means well.
Ivy has been shown to be bossy and very 'my way or the highway', but she undeniably cares; so I don't find it hard to think that she would carry this over into parenthood. She would want you to succeed, be pushy about it, then frustrated when you do something 'dumb', but she just wants to help! Very 'I just fixed you! Why are you doing something dumb again' type of parent. This could possibly cause distance between the two of you in your early adult life after you force yourself to gain independence (Ivy can understand that feeling but it doesn't mean it isn't hard for her).
Would she be a good parent? Sometimes, but would you be grateful for her pushing later on? Most likely yes, but would she cause the need for therapy? Yes she would.
Calvin 'Freckle' McMurray
Freckle would be the cautious dad, he would worry for you, sometimes coddle you and be strict about your whereabouts, but it is his way of showing his strong love for you. Freckle would especially worry if you act like your Uncle Rocky or inherit his more violent tendencies. You would definitely know your Irish heritage and culture by the back of your hand thanks to your grandmother.
Freckle would be kind of a helicopter parent at times, he would definitely be the type to not want you to go out unsupervised for a long while in your life. But in the end, he just wants you to be safe. You knew from a young age that your dad was protective, it made you feel proud when you were a child, frustrated when you were a teenager, and appreciative when you are an adult. This cautiousness of course stems from how unpredictable his life has been previously and him desperately trying to create a safe and secure environment for you as much as he can.
Freckle would be another parent that will likely cause therapy later on, but you love your dad, and honestly the therapy would be more for him than you.
Mitzi May
Mitzi would be the type of mother to white lie and shelter you for your own sanity, especially if you are also Atlas's child. She would not want you to know of the struggling speakeasy, or just low the business has gone in general, even though you likely already know.
Mitzi has been shown to be caring to those she cares about, this is shown in the pilot when she struggled to hurt Rocky's feelings by letting him go, ultimately pivoting to 'needing some music', therefore letting him off the hook. A similar instance, but more kid related, was in Lackadaisy Ingenue when Mitzi asked Ivy if she 'wanted to go get a soda pop', indirectly moving Ivy away from the darker regions of Lackadaisy.
Of course before Lackadaisy fell, she would have been more carefree, the type to insist on no double dessert tonight but then instantly cave when you so much as pout. While she still would not want you to interact too much with the speakeasy, she doesn't mind if you have a strong bond with Viktor or Zib, just as long as you stay oblivious to the darker sides, which carries over to present day.
Dorian 'Zib' Zibowski
Zib would be a struggling dad, but not deadbeat. It's no secret that he barely has enough to by, let alone you (Mitzi gives him more moneywise than any of the other band members, she says it's because he is the 'leader', it isn't why.)
Zib has been shown to be lazy but not emotionless. He shows sadness when he believes that Rocky will leave Lackadaisy, despite his displayed nonchalance. Some of this behaviour would spill over with you; he would act nonchalant but that would only make the moments where he shows affection to be even more precious.
Is Zib a bad dad? No, is his parenting better than it was before with better circumstances, 100%. I believe that Zib would be a better and more emotionally open if he had better financial status but mostly a partner to stabilise him. I am also a stronger believer that Zib is a lover boy and isn't built for the 'loner' lifestyle. He truly becomes a better person overall when he has to work on himself for his partner's sake. But that is a post for another time (👀).
Viktor Vasko
Viktor would be the stoic but undeniable doting dad. You definitely have him wrapped around your finger wholeheartedly.
Viktor has been shown to have be rough edged but has soft spots for the right people, a prime example being Ivy, who has been stated to be the one of the only people that can shake the foundation of Viktor Vasko. This would definitely transfer over to his child as he is a complete teddy bear to anyone he is close enough too. However he can be unmeaningly neglectful at times as he is pretty emotionally unavailable, and he would struggle to help you with any 'feelings' problems; any other issue is no problem however, he is a pretty hands on dad. He also is protective of you, which he does by intimidating anyone with his beady one eye stare that he deems a threat.
While Viktor is an easy one to talk about as you could quite literally just use any of his interactions with Ivy as an example of parenthood; he is still a great dad, maybe slightly emotionally constipated and neglectful at times, but no-one can be a perfect person, let alone parent.
Sedgewick Sable
Wick would be the type of father who desperately try to be cool... and fail flat on his head, other than that decent dad.
Wick has been displayed to be polite, businesslike and charming to associates and allies but more laid-back and naturally outgoing to close friends. This is especially shown with Lacy, his assistant and Mitzi who he is shown to have romantic feelings for. In both of these examples, he is more relaxed and isn't aiming to gain anything from them, he is simply his naturally charismatic self. This demeanour would move over to his child too, with the added touch of whimsical joy at the giddiness of being around his own flesh and blood. While sometimes he would bury himself too far into his work or passions, he always remembers you even if Lacy has to remind him sometimes
Wick is most definitely one of the better parents, with his stable finances and more laid back attitude yet sometimes frazzled approach to parenting, you would have a good, sometimes dull, depending on how many of his interests were passed down to you, childhood.
Mordecai Heller
Mordecai would 110% be a strict and strategic but devoting father. He treats parenthood, not you, but parenthood like a longterm project to complete. He does care for you deeply in his own unique way, but he struggles to express such things, so often you find yourself being treated like a colleague before he corrects himself with a 5% more softer tone.
Mordecai has been shown to be stonefaced, straightforward, organised and blunt. Underneath that mask he is awkward, antisocial and genuinely alert. With you, it is a mix of the two depending on his or your mood. This mask he displays most of the time is especially displayed in the pilot, where he was technically in his prime, in business. One thing about Mordecai that he is always business first because his personal life has long been mixed with business to the point where they are inseparable, which is why you find yourself snugly in the grey area. While he is extremely protective of you, and isn't around as often as he would like, he loves you. His love unfortunately includes constant fussing over every physical aspect of yourself and him struggling to let you be independent because of how he was forced to grow up at such a young age.
Mordecai is a sometimes good, sometimes decent father that despite his odd ways (They very well aren't odd to you if you inherit even some of his traits), loves you as if you were an extension of himself, which in a way you are.
Serafine Savoy
Serafine would be the type of ma to act more like an auntie or older sister than the traditional mother. She isn't the most responsible or careful person, and that would definitely reflect in her parenting styles.
Serafine has been shown as impulsive, spontaneous and even slightly malicious. This is displayed in the pilot where she shoots at Ivy, Rocky and Freckle because it is 'fun', showing that she finds fun in her work of being a terror. This nature would transfer over to her parenting style with you. She wouldn't coddle you like other parents, she would allow you to trip, to fall, her only comfort being a quick inspection of the 'wound', and a simple 'You'll be fine cher'. This frustrated you when you were young, but you realised when you were older it was her way of building your independence as a child. Serafine would be your mentor, the person who taught you how to be smart on the streets, how to charm your way to safety when in a tough spot, and when you are old enough to not damage it or yourself, how to use and reload a gun. She would teach you the act of voodoo and other dark arts, and likely you would get into the practice yourself as well.
Serafine would be a situational good ma, but it is undeniably that she wants you to flourish in life and embrace the chaoticness that comes with it.
Nicodeme Savoy
Nico is the type of pa to act as if he doesn't care but it is clear you have him wrapped around your finger. Unlike his sister, he would be more responsible for you, probably because of the big brother genes.
Nico is shown to be equally as fun loving and cocky as Serafine but also has the differing personality trait of being extremely laid back. Only some of this would transfer over with you, as he would care too much to want you to be infected with the careless lifestyle he has with his sister. Nico would act as if he couldn't care less about you, but in reality he is one puppy eyes away from caving in to whatever you want instantly. Nico would be more of a coddler then Serafine but he would still let you explore the world on your own, simply observing to make sure you are safe. Similarly to Serafine he would teach you street smarts, believing it more useful than anything public school would teach you. You would also be more exposed to the dark arts but Nico wouldn't outright encourage you to join.
Nico would likely be a better parent than his sister, still not the greatest but he isn't a bad parent. He is sort of similar to Zib where he would work better with a partner but he still would be fine by himself unlike Zib.
