The most hardline conservative bloc of House Republicans is calling on President Donald Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act in Minnesota if he deems it necessary, days after federal agents in Minneapolis shot and killed a second U.S. citizen in a matter of weeks — and just hours after the president, referring to protesters, declared, “you can’t have guns.” In an unsigned letter to Trump, the House Freedom Caucus said it was encouraging the president to use “all tools necessary — including the Insurrection Act,” to “maintain order in the face of unlawful obstructions and assemblages that prevent the enforcement of laws by the United States.” The Minneapolis protests have been largely peaceful. The Freedom Caucus also urged the president to maintain “necessary law enforcement including ICE in Minneapolis.” Some have suggested that Trump may have been looking for an off-ramp, or a means to wind down “Operation Metro Surge.” The group also called on Trump to end funding for sanctuary cities, and to ensure that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is “funded fully along with all remaining appropriation bills.”

Rep McCarthy just lost the vote for speaker of the House for a historic fifth straight time.

And he's losing votes as the process drags on.

He needs 218 votes. At last count he had 201.

Everyone who's voted against him are ultra-conservative "Freedom" Caucus members (95%) or denied the 2020 election results (over half of them did) or both.

14 of 15 of them voted to overturn valid election results in the Ellectroal College on Jan 6th, 2021.

The hilarious part is McCarthy has caved into EVERY single Freedom Caucus demand inorder to secure their votes. They are voting against him regardless out of spite.

They've even demanded --and he agreed-- that he cut the Office of Congressional Ethics. Imagine demanding to gut the Office responsible for investigating if you break the laws of your workplace.

But remember, there’s more important things in life than winning or losing — there’s making fun of Kevin McCarthy for losing. Watching the clown show that is the GOP stab him in the face for doing everything they asked.

Watching Keven McCarthy career (and respect for himself) go down in flames is the highlight of the results from 2022's elections.

Zelenskyy to visit Washington after U.N. appearance

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet with President Joe Biden and key members of Congress in Washington next week, a person familiar with the plans confirmed to POLITICO on Thursday evening. Zelenskyy’s stop-off in Washington will follow his attendance at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he hopes to shore up support for his country in the war against Russia. Zelenskyy will meet with Biden at the White House next Thursday and will also visit Capitol Hill, The Associated Press reported.

About a third of the House GOP caucus does support Ukraine. So President Zelenskyy's visit will likely highlight divisions among Republicans.

McCarthy has lost control. The radical rump of the Freedom Caucus has brought the House to a complete stop, blocking anyone's legislation from reaching the floor. They are still in a huff over President Biden dry-gulching McCarthy and the GQP with the budget deal.

The party with no policy and no agenda has now morphed into the party of nothing.
