Not letting anyone forget that in The Wild Brood, Fred tells Odnarb he goes by "Fred", unless they're dating, then it's "Freddie".
Daphne calls him Freddy all the time. In multiple episodes like the literal second episode The Creeping Creatures Shaggy calls him "Freddie". In The Menacing Manticore Velma calls him "Freddie."
…and in In Fear of the Phantom Scooby calls him "Freddie" too.
In the Scooby gang, I ship certain gangs with each other based on the specific media and era. For example, I ship Fred and Velma from the 2000 live-action movies, and Shaggy and Daphne from The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. Early ’70s Velma goes with Dee-Dee in my book, while Shaggy and Crystal are my ultimate OTP. I also like a version of Fraphne from the home video films, as well as Fraggy and Vaphne from the Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! series. Outside of those specific versions, I just see them all as good friends.
I came across this old piece of mine that originally I did in marker and decided to update it with a digital remaster. I wanted to try and keep a balance between the original style and the sort of modern animation/comic book style that I have been trying to refine. So, how about a 2020s remake of Scooby Doo Where Are You?
I’ve been in the school of thought that if they were to do a proper animated remake of the series, that the tone of the show would hinge a little more darkly than most, kind of what the 2010 mystery incorporated show was trying to do. Though, if we can avoid a “Riverdale-y” approach, that’d probably be best.
More of my Groovy Scooby AU ship templates. I honestly love templates like this because it really helps to solidify different aspects of your characters and how they act and react to various situations and the people they are with in said situations.

My Groovy Scooby gang are polyamorous, but you'll notice I didn't completely round out the whole gang. In my AU Daphne has always had a crush on Fred, but he never reciprocated her feelings and she eventually lost interest. Velma and Shaggy tried dating in the past but it just didn't work out. Meanwhile, Fred and Shaggy don't have a lot of chemistry in my AU (nor in canon imp.)
So that leaves my AU's canon relationships, Shaggy/Daphne, Velma/Daphne, and Velma/Fred.
Shaggy and Daphne are both fun-loving goof-balls, but are different enough as people that they balance each other out well. Shaggy helps to ground Daphne, and Daphne helps Shaggy get out of his comfort zone. Neither had great relationships with their parents, and so also bond over that and help each other with their shared trauma.
Velma has always had a huge crush on Daphne, because she is literally the most gorgeous girl she's ever seen. Daphne also idolizes Velma, but for her genuineness of appearance and character. What started out as girl best-friends quickly grew into sexual experimentation, which then grew into a full on relationship.
Velma always found Fred attractive, but most of the gang had been confused on where Fred's sexuality lay. Fred himself was also unsure for quite sometime. However, as time passed with the gang, Fred grew very close with Velma. Bonding over long talks and shared interests. When Fred finally asked her out, Velma was shocked but incredibly giddy.
Hot take everyone! HOT HOT TAKE! I'm a hardcore frelma and Shapne shipper.
I headcannon that the reason scooby is closer to Velma out of the two girls is because when Shapne go out on dates Scooby often hangs out with Fred and Velma.
Scooby doesn't mind because Fred is a great cook and Velma has always been his favorite since they were kids. She spends time with him and is at times the first to acknowledge him.
That is to say that Shaggy and Daphne still adore Scooby and vice versa bit sometimes couples don't want their animal friends around constantly and Fred and Velma in this Headcannon are still experimenting with dating each other. (And having fun because let's be honest these 2 are the main ones always up for solving mysteries.)
Lmk if I should state why I adore Frelma. Getting tired of looking for frelma and having people hate on them even though they've had a better chemistry since the original cartoon. Fred and Daphne gave off and on couple and Shaggy and Velma gave those two friends who aren't interested in each other but join the double date anyway because they get along well enough.
