i would like to write more french poetry but no one ever appreciates it because they dont know french & it’s hard finding french blogs
hey there, what are some of your favorite French speaking blogs / content creators? I've been studying for 2 years at my college and want to expose myself to more French content :') ty
Hello! my favorite French speaking/ langblrs are :
@frenchy-french, @vangoghs-other-ear, @parisbian, @gwendolynlerman, @topofrancais, @salutcavaouiettoi, @eevielearnsfrench
(Other) French people I follow that do not necessarily post about French langblr: @thomastudies (also great content on instagram, sometimes also in French), @orendil, @poetepublic, @lecouragecestvaincrelapeur,
You can also look for more French blogs (or blogs by French people) by searching: ‘up the baguette’ and ‘french side of tumblr’. I’m sure you’ll find a lot of blogs that will interest you. Tbh I also have to look for more haha! If any of my followers have other suggestions, feel free to comment!
Also: if you have instagram you can also follow ‘le monde’ or other news pages.
Hope this helps :) Good luck with your studies!!
Best France blogs and online journals
One of the great things about blogging is that it draws you into a world of blogs and online news that you probably would never have discovered ordinarily and like everything some are better than others. These are my top five France blogs and journals for 2017 on the basis that I have found them to be the most interesting, informative and entertaining. I suggest you check them out.
"You know, some of the good parts of blog theory was that blogs would be like diaries that the world could read. They would be spontaneous, whatever pops into your mind, as a diary would be"
- Gregg Easterbrook
Janine has some great tips about visiting Paris in The Good Life France
Number one - The Good Life France
This online France magazine is easily my favourite and I can't help but admire what a fantastic job Janine Marsh does and I can understand why it has become one of the most read France blog magazines. Well laid out with high-quality photographs and very interesting articles from which I've learned a lot about France and the French as well as peoples experiences in the country. It is an online magazine, though there are plenty of blog articles on there too. Janine has recently written a book titled My Good Life in France which has been very well received. With the billing of "Everything you want to know about France and more", you get exactly that with The Good Life France as it covers in depth subjects such as the regions of France, gastronomy, living in France, culture and language as well as holidays & things to do. Upbeat and entertaining, edited and written with an obvious genuine interest in the subject, joy and passion, I certainly recommend it.
The latest events are covered in The Local
Number two - The Local
Top of my lists of reads for good up to date information on what's going on in France is The Local. It carries topical news feeds covering the main events in France both political and general, it's slogan is France's news in English. It appears geared towards expats to an extent though I think there is plenty there for anyone who has an interest in things French. I follow the news in French on TV and I find much of it accurately mirrored in The Local, translated and written in an easy to read style. There is something for everyone with sections on sport, travel, property, culture, language, lifestyle, careers and business as well as life in France.
There are plenty of good shopping tips on Oui in France
Number three - Oui in France
At first, I thought oh no this is all a bit too American for my liking but after following it on a regular basis I realised how generous Diane is with her information both on living in France but also blogging. One of her tips completely transformed much of the work I do online and the subsequent results have been impressive. There is quite a lot of life comparison goes on too which can be very amusing to read as well as shopping tips. The professionalism of the presentation is impressive and the projection of her own online shop and products reflect what I interpret as good taste. A real heart on the sleeve blog which works.
The regions sights and flavours are highlighted on Belle Provence Travels
Number four - Belle Provence Travels
This one has grown on me over time and it has developed to focus increasingly on books as interesting reading material along with cooking experiences. Most of the subject matter is close to where I live in the PACA region of southern France and I find myself picking up on quite a few things and saying to myself I'd like to see or do that sometime. So it works for me on an inspirational level for the Provence area of France.
Village and rural life are at the heart of Vanessa France - Life on la lune
Number five - Vanessa France - Life on la lune
There is something about Vanessa's ability to pick on a small subject and expand on it in a comprehensive and interesting way which draws me to have a read of her blog every now and again. Village and rural life are often featured along with insightful observations of French habits and traditions, history too. It comes across to me as cultured and intelligent even though it perhaps lacks some of the visual punch which I usually like. But sometimes it's the non-dramatic observations of France which are very revealing and I like to lose myself in them occasionally, it feels like an education.
One of those observed moments in Aix en Provence from Inside France
I'm not sure a blog is a form of diary, I suppose it is of sorts as it tends to be chronological and to a degree simultaneous, but it is far more about observation and seeing what might be of interest to share with others and then articulating that in a readable form and bringing it to light with good images, being reasonably entertaining too.
So I hope you find my choice of French blogs helpful and that you will carry on reading my offerings as well.
Best wishes
Peter H.
