2025 was the year where I wanted to reconnect with my creative energy and what writing meant to me. So I set out to do that.
I had three objectives:
-Finish the first draft of my fantasy novel Zoé, Lady of the palace
-Proofread and post my short story Les voiles de Séléné/Séléné's veils
-Write my short story La quête d'Héloïse/Héloïse's quest
And I can say proudly that I accomplished all three! Because I love stats, I also want to materialize things. I wrote :
-85k for Zoé
-13,369 words for Héloïse
-6k for another short story
-12,8000 words for the first four chapters of the story of Mary, my new heroine.
Which brings me to around 117k written in 2025. And that's without the posts written for City-of-Ladies.
One of the best decision I took this year was to post my original stories online. I thought it would be even more difficult to be heard and seen because you don't have a fandom/known universe to back your stuff. Turns out it was the complete opposite. The result was extremely positive and gave me the confidence I needed.
I total, I posted four original stories that you can find here.
For 2026, I will outline things that I want to do. Because writing is a hobby and I don't want to think of it in terms of productivity and obligations.
My main goal is to focus on Mary's story and maybe write other stories in the same universe. I want to write something for myself, just to have fun. I'm still an OC creator and I still love writing that sort of stories. Mary's tale will also be the perfect opportunity to share some fascinating facts I've learned during my research. Women's history is an endless source of inspiration and I love highlighting all these possibilities.
I've already edited one chapter and I will post the first two chapters on my AO3 account as soon as possible.
Here are some projects I would like to work on:
-Try to start proofreading and editing Zoé's story...That's the part I like less. I still need to decide what I will do with it.
-Start another project in the same universe as Zoé. This time with a new heroine named Sophia.
-Brainstorm for the sequel of Héloïse's tale.
-Write my science-fiction novella Phone call from the dead.
-Turn City-of-Ladies into a proper website.
And of course, I will still let myself my surprised, just like Mary's arrival was a surprise.
Another very important resolution: I want to be more present and support other OC creators. So that comes with reading more fanfic. And commenting, of course (I always tell other people to comment and you can be sure that I do it myself).
And you? What are your projects for 2026 ?
