OH this was so so good. first of all, love the concept of broke med student nude model will and artist nico, idk something about it seems so classic. like if i had to pick an au of them having only read pjo once and never experiencing fandom, that is what i would choose. there is also fact that it was written by cj and cj has never once missed. LOVE this fic.

2. My Neighbor, The Sex God by @cherrypie62666

Piper pursed her lips, tapping a finger to her chin; all the while her hazel eyes twinkled at him with barely controlled amusement. “So, you have a problem with your neighbor,” she said slowly, waiting for his confirmation.

“Yes,” Nico hissed, shooting the girl a withering look, which did absolutely nothing other than possibly amusing her even more.

“And your problem is… that he’s too hot,” she finished, tilting her head to the side and grinning wickedly.

“My problem,” he grumbled, brow creasing at the overly pleased look on her face. She was far too unsympathetic considering he was sleep deprived and cranky. “Is that every night when I come home, he’s standing in front of the window, completely naked! I don’t know what to do. It’s like his ass is a magnet for my eyes, and it’s always there, without fail, waiting for me to come view it.”

THIS FIC IS SO FUNNY. its not nsfw but you would think it is, mostly its just hilarious. like, first of all, What a freaking concept. lol. also the tags "inner struggle, when does nico not have an inner struggle" made me fucking Lose my mind bc so so real. this is Such a fun fic and it balances romantic and platonic relationships and its so excellent i love

DUDE OH MY GOD first of all merman will. second of all THIS FIC IS SO FIRE. 1.5k of what is, in my opinion, the best au trope of all time. i LOVE mermaid/lighthouse keeper, ive written something similar and i hope to one day to write it again, but no matter what it will NEVER be as fire as this fic. so tender. such quiet love OH how i love you quiet love

OH i love me some nico & the jacksons and nico & sally especially!!! this is so supportive and sweet and such an easy read i cannot recommend it enough

OH i love some scheming, protective nico oh my GOD!! nico & cabin seven is so special forever and this fic was such a treat. nico who is sooooooo determined to give will a break. SUCH an intriguing read

WHY I LOVE IT

When Em first teased this fic, I damn near lost my mind. Nothing could have prepared me for how much I would love it, and reading it altered my brain chemistry. Em is a master at creating atmosphere, adding details and descriptions that paint a vivid picture. She sets up the characters, the dynamic, and the situation just enough to keep readers grounded in reality for when the fantasy takes over. Dilf!Bob is one sexy motherfucker, and if I had to tell you all the reasons I love him, we’d be here all day. Packed into this fic are all the tropes and kinks that melt my brain: praise, orgasm control, possessiveness, forbidden relationship, and an age gap. Another aspect that I enjoyed was the dirty talk. It’s not the most explicit I’ve ever read, but I think it speaks to Bob’s age in this fic. He’s older and more sophisticated, but he still has a mouth on him, and what a mouth it is. The true standout moments in this fic, however, is the communication. Sure, it’s absolutely filthy smut that made so hot and bothered I couldn’t think straight, but Bob and Reader communicate. There’s consent, and check-ins throughout to make sure consent is still enthusiastically given, along with talks of safe sex, including the use of protection and birth control. It doesn’t feel awkward or misplaced, but like a natural part of the story, as it always should be. Consent is sexy. Using protection is sexy. Interwoven with the smut are moments of reality, of normalcy that could take the reader out of the story, but never do because that’s how skillful of a writer Em is. This fic made me crave Dilf!Bob and made me yearn for him to buy me lingerie and do unholy things to me. It’s a fic I keep coming back to, and it gets better with every read.

➛ Some of the best smut you will ever read. It's not just once, but multiple times and in different ways. It's filthy and glorious.

Is Ben the latino boy in the book? And is Arthur white?

I haven't read the book yet so I might have gotten the characters wrong.

But, Froy, as a passing white man (don't come for me, he himself have said it) can be any of the characters, at least visually. I'm sure there will be people who won't be happy if Froy plays a latino boy, even if he in fact half latino. I hope if he gets the role, people will be supportive.

yessss Ben is the Latino character and yes he specially says he does NOT*** pass for white, but we all know Froy does. I know. that’s why I said, there are physical descriptions of the character that Froy does not meet. Arthur is Jewish.

yes people would be upset. but it opens up a huge conversation of like, ok, well how Latino does Froy get to be? he’s Mexican American but the genetics roll of the dice gave him light hair, freckles and blue eyes. his dealing with not looking Mexican “enough” while simultaneously being known for his Mexican father and last name have been part of his identity his whole life. so is his only expression of being Latino always to be, get cast in a role that is written white and then ask the producer if you can have a Mexican mom and a single line of spoken Spanish? 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don’t know the answer. just something I think about with hifm going out for roles. Adam Silvera writes a lot of characters that are guys like Froy. he could also play Mateo in They Both Die in the End. Hell he could possibly play Rufus but that might be a harder sell. though Jamie was leaning in that direction… 😙

Summary: "You don't think that's them?" Specs whispers, trying to keep himself from being overheard. "I mean, she's from Brooklyn, and she took down the Delancey's by herself." "I ain't heard nothin' 'bout Spits bein' a girl," Mush replies, "but I suppose it could be."

This fic is an absolute gem, you guys.  The tough reader that can kick everyone’s butt and still has mystery around her is such an interesting character to read.  As soon as I started, I was absolutely captivated by the reader and her dynamic with all the boys.  She could kick anyone’s butt, that’s pretty obvious, but she’s also just a kid that has the same feelings of hurt and fear and concern as everyone else.  It’s really nice to see what’s hiding behind the tough exterior.

Her anonymity is also amazing!  That’s really such a clever touch to add.  Everyone being afraid of Spits and not really knowing the truth about Spits makes her even more fascinating and makes her position in Brooklyn even more cool.  And, honestly, I could read about a badass girlsie all day long (and daydream that I could ever be so tough).

There’s also a twist @pinecovewoods throws in about Race’s background that I absolutely adore!  I’m all here for (spoilers ahead!) Brooklyn born Race going back and forth between Brooklyn and Manhattan in his youth.  It makes his loyalties to Jack and the Manhattan newsies make even more sense and explains his quick to jump nature.  The whole headcanon is one I’m absolutely here for.

The writer also creates the accents so well!  It’s written just enough to see the accents well and notice their differences, but not so much that it’s distracting or difficult to read.  And, I may be a little biased, but the accents are absolutely amazing so it’s always lovely to see them included and written well.  But it’s not just the accents!  All of the dialogue is written wonderfully and the characterizations are fantastic!  Jack’s sass, Race’s nervousness, the reader’s defensiveness, it’s all written so well with so many little details that bring us back to their emotions.  We get to infer and understand what’s going on just from the way they behave, their nervous ticks, and that’s such a delight to read.

And the ending line?  Who can’t love the ending lines???  Talk about kick butt!  Compassion and strength all wrapped up in one!  Brilliant!

All in all, this fic is absolutely 100% worth reading.  I could honestly read about Spitfire all day long; her backstory and Races are both so interesting.  If you’re looking for something from the Newsies to read, I highly recommend this fic.  And, of course, if you’re wanting to feel a little more like a badass, I’m sure this reader insert will certainly do the trick!  It’s definitely a story that deserves all the love.
