Gabe isn't going for the oneliner. He's just going to dip Jack and kiss him. That's flirting, right?
y’know what?
He’s perfectly fine with that.

Hush: My muse trying to calm and quiet yours
The fact he disliked Reyes was not even something Genji was attempting to conceal. But he assumed that since he gave pretty much everyone but Ziegler the cold shoulder, the particulars of his attitude could sometimes remain unnoticed. Not that he cared all that much, and Genji would rather have called it indifference rather than dislike. But it was hard for him to be particularly fond of the owner of the first voice he heard upon returning from death. Part of him resented having been saved at all, another resented the parody of a bargain he was offered in a language he then only half understood.
Needless to say his relation with the commander out of operations was a strange one.
It had been a few months since the Venice incident and since its consequences began piling up on the organization at large. No members of Blackwatch were authorized to leave the base, and frankly speaking, this made Genji satisfied enough of his position as a neutral agent.
But that didn’t stop him from still sometimes coming down to the Blackwatch staff rooms, to kill time more than anything (who would he even want to see there? McCree?). When he did so, he usually made sure it was when the only people around were as talkative as he was. But this time, he walked in on only one person already there.
His former commander was on his own, sitting at a table, deep in a phone call. Genji needn’t eavesdrop to notice at once it was all escalating far past some casual chatter. He could bet a good chunk of the salary he would never get that it was Morrison or some UN official, and that they would be yelling at each other in mere seconds.
It was none of his business. The cyborg was about to leave and just return to his quarters when Reyes’ dispute seemed to take a more violent turn.
It was hard to make out all of the words. The fight between Reyes and his interlocutor was rather violent, but the commander still kept his voice low enough to remain incomprehensible to someone who wasn’t used yet to spoken English. It still didn’t take a genius to assume whatever was putting him in this state had to do with their misadventure in Italy…
Genji remained watching for a few seconds, until finally Reyes hung up, cutting the person on the other end mid-sentence. In a fit of rage he then smashed his phone - or whatever device that was - against the table, letting out groans of frustration that grew to an almost feral intensity as he hunched himself over the broken device and continued to pound the table repeatedly with his fist.
That was a Reyes he had never seen before.
Yet, this did not scare him away. Far from it, this actually made him decide not to leave. This visceral frustration all bursting out, Genji knew he had felt the exact same thing during their raids in his home country.
A Reyes that felt more human. That was a Reyes he wanted to know better.
“Commander.” He eventually allowed himself to call out, fully intending to let the other know he witnessed this little outburst.
“If this can be of any comfort, this situation is one on which you have my support.“
Sex energy, right? Y’all are Incubi, ain’tcha. Fuckin’ knew it.
Now I know why y’all love my cock.

“Alguna vez lo extrañas?” Sombra murmurs the question from behind her perch in the corner of the safehouse room. The brilliant purple of her holodisplay bathes the cramped room in a violet glow, and illuminates her face as she casts a cursory glance Reaper’s way when she continues. “Siendo Gabe, en lugar de…well.”
With her left hand, Sombra gestures vaguely at the wraith, who only frowns deeply into the screen of his com. God forbid the two of them get through an evening without her prying into something.
“He’s dead- nothing to miss.”
A soft chuckle comes from the hacker and she reaches back to tie her hair up in a lazy ponytail. ”Don’t cut yourself on all that edge, boss.”
A weak retort, given Sombra’s usual caliber of comebacks, and the lack of conviction in her statement gives Reyes pause. Sitting up slightly in his chair, he chances a sideways glance at her and catches the tail end of a melancholy sigh as her brows knit together, and she waves away something on her display she’d been studying with a frown.
“…I miss it sometimes.”
Sombra’s eyebrows shoot up, genuine surprise betraying her usual cool demeanor. She had hoped maybe, but hadn’t honestly expected an answer from him- much less the one he just gave. It’s... reassuring, somehow. A beat, and Sombra dismisses the holodvid altogether, quenching the artificial light in the small room and leaving them in the meager luminescence of the moonlight streaming in through a window.
“I… miss her too sometimes.” She draws her knees up to her chest and hugs them tightly, as if she’d fall to pieces if not for her own embrace. “Olivia.”
She breathes the name like a deeply guarded secret, haltingly and unsure, and Gabe can’t help but idly wonder when the last time she spoke it out loud was. Too long ago, he muses. A deep sigh rumbles in the wraith’s chest and he sets the com down to take in the view of Sombra as she rests her head upon her knees and looks hazily at the wall opposite her.
He forgets sometimes- she would have only been a child when the Crisis happened; there’s no way for him to really know how much of herself was lost to the perils of it.
“Tienes que descansar, princesa.” His tone is uncharacteristically gentle- subdued, as he rises and seemingly floats to where she’s curled in her chair.
“Estoy bien.” Sombra sniffles softly, not bothering to meet his gaze. “I still have work to do.”
“It can wait til the morning.” Gabe sets a hand, rough and calloused, on her delicate shoulder and gives it a reassuring squeeze. “Venga. Get some rest.”

“It’s a non-question anyway because I don’t keep anything actually important in my fucking room, Sombra. What did you hypothetically break?”
“I may have hypothetically found a mask of yours and had some fun with it... and dropped it. But remember, this is all a hypothetical!”
