I wish you would write a fic where... Loki meets Tony/i as a kid and grows fond of them for a multitude of reasons and then leaves and then returns during the whole Avengers fiasco, and then (oh no i haven't thought that far ahead)

Ohhh!!! Shit yeah I’m here for this.

Loki who, irritated and tired of Odin’s focus on Thor’s glorious golden self, gets bored and sets his sights on looking out at the other realms for more entertainment.

He’s the god of mischief after all, a chaos deity in all of the ways that matter.

So of course he’s drawn to Toni as soon as he turns his sights towards Midgard.  Of course he focuses in on that bright little light of creation and chaos and drive.

So of course he has to step between the realms, has to meet her, see her in the flesh to gauge her true potential.

Of course he does.

It will, if all else fail, be an entertaining distraction.

But then he gets there, sees this snarling, vicious little thing, a half step off wrong and with a mind that whirls and whirls like the tide.  Meets her, talks with her. 

And oh does Loki like this child.

This sharp toothed, bright light in such a dull realm.

It’s the work of seconds to lay claim to her, not in a nefarious way of course, Loki has his boundaries and children are firmly outside those in so many ways.  But there’s no harm in marking the girl so he can more easily keep an eye on her.  Watch her progress, see if that potential grows or if it’s snuffed out by the dull creatures who populate this realm.  Simple watching runes to keep him linked and informed.

Loki watches her on and off over the years, watches her grow and change and suffer.  He rarely interferes, a poke there, a bit of luck or mischief here.  Once or twice a gift, left in her path.  Somewhere along the line it stops being just an amusement and becomes a bit of an obsession. A secret only for him.

And when Loki eventually falls that link is the thing he clings to.  Clings to it so hard that even when his will is overwritten that when the time comes that Thanos and the Other want to send him to do the Titan’s bidding Loki jumps at the chance to go to Midgard.

She is there.

And something inside of Loki cries to be there too.
