What would you really like to see in a Frozen sequel? Personally, an Egyptian Fire Queen as a counterpart to Elsa would be my top choice... :)

I don’t want to sound rude but you’re being kinda exigent… Not only you want a fire queen but it also has to be Egyptian? I really don’t know how that would work, to be honest. 

Elsa is the Snow Queen because her character and the movie is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen. Who would this counterpart be inspired of?

The only character I could think of right now that is from the egyptian mythology that would fit acute new character you want is Sekhmet. She was associated with the mid day heat and aligned with the desert. Still it would make no sense because what would a BC character be doing in the 1840s? 

However, it could just be just a random character to fill with the fans wishes but then I don’t think it would work or that it would be sequel worthy. I mean, what kind of story they would have? Are they friends? Enemies? If so why are they enemies? Is this fire character a threat to Arendelle? What is this character doing in Arendelle for starters? If they took the plot back in the day where Elsa was evil and she wanted to attack her hometown… well it didn’t work and that’s why they changed it. Where could you go with that?

Anyhow, there is a book that has this plot where Olaf finds a Summer Queen. It’s called “A Warm Welcome” and you can preorder it on amazon. (Take note, however, that even thought they are “official merchandize”, they are not written by someone at the studios so they are not completely official).

Personally, I don’t want a sequel. I do want to see more of the characters like everybody else but if I could pick I wouldn’t go with a movie-long sequel. I would like to see shorts like the upcoming Frozen Fever. They take less time to animate so there could be more and of much more things and they could even take back things that weren’t included on the movie for this.

Thoughts on all the Frozen 2 rumours? Personally, i don't want it in a "omg i need frozen 2 or i'll die" way like a lot of people do, but i have the feeling that if it was well made, it could be even better than the first one.

You said it anon, they are rumors. I feel people take them too seriously and they start freaking out about something that maybe won't happen. 

I really don't know where a Frozen 2 could go. But I feel it would be better for them if they keep doing shorts like the upcoming Frozen Fever rather than making an hour long movie that might not be the best. 

I feel that to have a "good sequel" it needs to be better than the first movie. Think of all the things they'd have to top-- story, animation, songs, box office results, public response (and now they have people against them because "Frozen is too popular. I don't like it anymore")

Not saying it won't ever happen, but I rather hear the news of shorts that keep with the story, include things that were originally going to be part of the movie but in the end they were taken out, and things that will compliment it more than a sequel that could make plot holes.

If there actually was a Frozen 2, would be excited about it? Or have some concerns? What might those be?

I’m actually kinda against them doing a second movie because they would just be doing it for the popularity of the movie and I do think that the movie ended perfectly and doesn’t need a sequel. 

I wouldn’t mind them doing short shorts that show more of the universe but they are not long enough that could break something from the original story but still add more to the universe. 

Like how somewhere on 2015 they’ll release a short called Frozen Fever that will be set on Anna’s birthday. There will be more of Arendelle, more of the characters but it’s not too much that could add problems to the first movie. 

I’m not saying no but I rather they didn’t.

What's you're opinion on whether or not there's going to be a frozen 2 ?

I, me Mar, feel that it would be unnecessary. The movie has a perfect ending in which they solve all the problems of the movie and they leave enough space to let the viewer imagine what happens next. If they did a sequel they would be doing what they let people imagine. 

The possible plot sequels can go from “Anna and Kristoff’s child”, “They face a new threat”, “Elsa sets another Eternal Winter by accident”, “Hans’ redemption” and all those plots are predictable. If Frozen is not predictable. Also, if they are not done properly, they could ruin the main plot or create holes in it. I’m not saying that they can’t do a sequel and that the amazing team at Disney Animation Studios can’t come up with a plot for a sequel, the problem is making it work and make it compliment the original and popular movie (remembering also that for a sequel to be considered as “good” it needs to be better than the first movie.)

However, there is also another problem with the studio and it is that they don’t do sequels. Sequels like Cinderella’s, The Lion King’s, etc were done by a side studio called “Disney Toons”. Not to mention that the studio already has planned what movies they are going to do next, leaving no space for a Frozen sequel unless they moved or changed the dates. 

Clearing up, if there were a sequel I would go watch and I would be the first one encouraging it but the movie gives enough space to let the fans imagine what comes next without any sequel, animator or director clearing up.

so.. like.. do you think that there is going to be a frozen 2 ?

So far, the only Frozen 2 will be getting are small books for kids and Frozen Fever that's coming out somewhere in 2015. It's going to be a small short set after the movie (around a year later) on Anna's birthday. Elsa and Kristoff want to make a party for Anna but Elsa's powers get in the way. 

As for another movie-- there's not really space for it in the canon universe because of the ending of the movie. All the problems are solved and there's a bit of an open ending that let's you imaging what happens next. Unless the amazing people at Disney came up with a plot twist that doesn't affect the original plot, we won't have a sequel.

Honestly.. Do you think a Animated Short Film is good enough. Or do you crave for a Frozen squeal like me.

No, I don't want a sequel. I mean, if we got one I would be more than happy and I would be the first one in line to see it but my main problem is that they could ruin the plot because for a sequel they would need to come up with a good plot twist that's not predictable or that it isn't what everyone else is expecting (because one of the main characteristics of the movie is that it is unexpected and unpredictable) but the plot has to be kept up for a whole hour without causing plot holes on the first movie, or the sequel for the matter,

The good thing about the shorts is that they can do as many as they want and can do and they're easier to support. Like story developers can have 20 ideas but only 3 could be included on the same movie/time and those three scenes are not even 10 minutes of movie. With shorts, they could do all these 20 stories, focus on all the characters, and even bring some deleted concepts into the world of the movie. Also, they take less time to produce.

Hey thanks for answering my question about the storyboard. But I have to ask, based on your knowledge about Frozen do still beleive there will be a Frozen sequel.. If so how long would you think it would take??

There’s so many things that need to be put in consideration if Disney were to make s Frozen sequel. Creating a movie takes a lot of time, so I don’t think anyone should be expecting a sequel soon. 

Only the development stage takes around 1-3 years, depending on the movie and the issues (plot holes and continuity problems mainly) they come across. Some movies take more or less time. The movie starts being developed before the animation begins.

Then the animation stage can take around 1-2 years (years while the movie is being finished being developed too). The animation stage is highly licked with the development one and if they realize that a scene isn’t working on the movie or that it needs to be different they have to redo it or delete it. The animation stage takes a lot of time because you need to do the models of the characters first, then you start with storyboards to use as reference of the Layout (a very rough animation stage, no details, barely any background and rough movements), then the animation keeps being adjusted and they start adding more details. Then when the animation process is completed then it moves to crowd simulation, lighting and shading, until the scene looks like it does in the movie.

Because Frozen has an ending that doesn’t really allow any sequels unless they come up with a plot that doesn’t affect or break the first movie or the characters and instead it continues with the story, I don’t think they would. It’s easier to create shorts that take less time, use less budget, and they compliment the movie and they are easier to support. 

Disney Animation Studios already has planned projects right now. Right now they’re finishing Big Hero 6 and developing Zootopia. Then they have planned Moana, Giants, and some other unnamed projects. Disney, however, hasn’t done a sequel since The Rescuers Down Under and since then the sequels were made by Disney Toons, a side studio, but sadly some  of their movies have the reputation of being “bad” (which they aren’t). 

The most important part is that if Disney were to make a Frozen sequel it HAS to be better than the first movie to be considered a good sequel, which could be very hard to achieve.

I think we all know what the sequel is gonna be...'Olaf: The Snow Must Go On' XD

I really hope we can get to see more of Olaf. I still insist they should do shorts instead of a 90+ minute long sequel but I hope they really show more of him and his crazy adventures in summer.
