(Honestly, I was asleep when it released, so thank you for notifying me. Alatreon looks absolutely amazing, I can’t wait to fight it! I may be wrong here, but it looks like it has at least three Super Moves. Also, Frozen Barioth ended up being the real deal! Although whether it’s an adaption from Explore or just something new with the same name, it’ll be cool (pun intended) either way. Barioth needs more love, he’s definitely the underrated one in his trio with Narga and Tiggy)

Frozen Barioth: A Chilly Conundrum

Recently, this guy here was found in the icon files of World data. The supposed name of this monster is “Frozen Barioth”. It comes after a blank space in the lineup after Safi’jiiva, presumably belonging to Alatreon. It might get a similar situation that Stygian Zinogre got, leading the story into the bigger threat. None of this is confirmed officially, but it could actually be a huge deal if it’s real, for a couple of reasons.

Unless it ends up being a Rare species like the Metal Raths, this could likely be a Variant along the lines of Shrieking Legiana or Savage Deviljho. This would be the first time a Monster has both a Subspecies and a Variant.

The more drastic reason of the two is that Frozen Barioth already exists: as a Monster from Explore. Not only would this be the first Monster from those games to make it into the main series, it would be a third Monster from the Japan-only games, the last of which were Lavasioth and Hypnocatrice back in 2009. That opens up so many possibilities for future games. Despite the stigma associated with those games, there are numerous monsters that would fit perfectly into the main series with a few minor adjustments. Baruragaru, Odibatorasu and Inagami, to name a few.

Again, none of this is absolutely confirmed. But if it ends up coming to fruition, it would have a big effect on the future of the series. Ironic really, when World and even Iceborne were already such huge shakeups to the norm.
