Slow Cooker Pear-Quince Butter is a delicious spread that has just the right amount of spice and sweetness. The slow cooking process lets the flavors blend together beautifully, making a butter that is rich and fragrant that goes well with cheese, toast, or scones.
Ingredients: 4 large ripe pears, peeled, cored, and diced. 4 large quinces, peeled, cored, and diced. 1 cup granulated sugar. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves. 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg. 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
Instructions: Place diced pears and quinces into the slow cooker. Add sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Stir to combine. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the fruit is very soft and can be easily mashed with a fork. Using an immersion blender or a potato masher, blend the cooked fruit until smooth. Continue to cook, uncovered, on low for an additional 1-2 hours, or until the mixture thickens to your desired consistency. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking or burning. Once thickened, turn off the slow cooker and let the pear-quince butter cool completely. Transfer the butter to sterilized jars and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
