Hey I hope this question isn't too personal (if it is just ignore it). How do you feel emotionally after the surgery? Did it alleviate some of your dysphoria?
Sorry for taking so long to answer this, I was debating holding off until longer because I'm still dealing with aspects of post op depression (which I'll get to in a sec) but I thought that would be good to talk about in this ask.
Short answer is yes, I hardly feel any dysphoria over anything now. I do feel very occasional bottom dysphoria or social dysphoria but it's usually only when people mention something and now just me sitting around, randomly getting dysphoria (like top dysphoria was).
I enjoy being able to wear shirts that I was never able to wear. I enjoy not feeling random dysphoria in class and wanting to hunch over and hide. I haven't had much time with my chest and I still don't have my restrictions off but I can already see a brighter future ahead of me. I also picked a really good surgeon and I love the look of my chest and the placement and scars are basically perfect plus my body hasn't reacted weird (yet) so I'm having a pretty good time.
That being said I have been struggling with post op depression every now and again. It's not because I don't like my chest although I do miss having built in stress balls because that was a stim of mine but it's not like I can't find something else. It's more like because breast tissue makes estrogen plus I have restrictions and have to bind, I just want to be healed already and I'm having a hormone crash. Also I just hate winter a lot so all of these things are kind of making it hard to recover in peace. Other than that yeah I'm doing great.
