I’ve written this post and re-written it a million times. As much as I don’t want to be older, I’m about to be 24 as of next Saturday. With growing up, I’ve always tried to set goals every birthday- similar to like a “New Year’s Resolution” of sorts. Some of the goals I would set over the years would be small such as making my bed every morning. This year I am making a promise to myself. To love myself just as much as I love my job and my girlfriend and my friends. With that, I have decided to start taking medications to help my mental health and recovery and to be consistent on those meds. You see, in the past when I’ve been on medications I have let the weight of what the world says about medications weigh in on what I think about me being on meds and likewise I quit medications a lot- cold turkey. Not this time though. I feel like quitting medications cold turkey is irresponsible and childish. It’s time to grow up. As many of you may know, I’ve been happily in a relationship for almost three months now with a girl that makes me feel the happiest I’ve ever felt with anyone. For the past week, I’ve been helping her recover from her tonsillectomy that she got on Tuesday. This photo was taken at some point today by her while the three of us (her, her cat Blaze and I) were nestled in bed. I’ve never had such a strong family oriented vibe from the beginning in a relationship and I couldn’t be happier with our little fur baby. Then again, it was I who was graciously adopted into their already present little family by the adorable Blaze himself. I suppose this is a reminder that in this chaotic world that we live in, sometimes- in the mornings you have to live in the moment. I know I look rough but it’s already been 12 months on T for me! I couldn’t have done it without my beautiful friend family and my amazing girlfriend. I could go as far as to list all of the people in my life that I’m thankful for but I’m sure I’d run out of characters before I wrote all the names down. Whether you’ve supported me from the beginning of my transition or only recently began to understand why I am the way I am/maybe we just became acquainted I could never ever thank you guys enough.
