ROCHOR MEE aka SG HOKKIEN MEE 🍜 // Singapore Fried Hokkien noodles (ala carte: aud15.90); part of the aud45 Set D takeaway special from Fugu 8 Asian cafe on Cambridge Street, West Leederville. Complete menu on @perthfoodmenu The noodles (with three prawns and calamari) were richly flavoursome and quite delicious but very oily. They use pork lard and pork belly fat for additional ommph. I’m sure this wouldn’t pose a problem for most people but personally, as I have an intolerance to oily and fatty food, I needed to use hot water to wash off the grease. Personal preference is that it would be better if the Hokkien noodles were less oily and they used fresher limes - the ones provided were very soft. Decent prices and generous serves to curb your Singaporean food cravings. Would be back to try their other dishes - the duck egg Char Kway Teow is next! Wiki trivia: “ Hokkien mee is a Southeast Asian dish, popular in Indonesian, Malaysian, Singaporean and Thaicuisines, that has its origins in the cuisine of China's Fujian (Hokkien) province. There are three distinct types of Hokkien Mee. The Singaporean variant consists of egg noodles and rice noodles stir-fried with egg, slices of pork, prawns and squid, and served and garnished with vegetables, small pieces of lard, sambal sauce and lime (for adding the lime juice to the dish).” #fugu8 #fugu8asiancafe #westleederville #singaporean #noodles #hokkiennoodles #sghokkienmee #singaporeanfood #perthtakeaway #supportlocalperth #wikitrivia #honestreviewsonly #perthfoodreview (at Fugu8 Asian cafe) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-rcBvfjNCH/?igshid=14c1leq0m52em
