The 5 day work week is a tool of psychological torture designed to keep me from enacting very gay ideas
Recently a post of mine got posted to r/systemcringe. It was a joke about working with DID but I wanted to talk about how do we cope with having DID while working?
For context we work in a call centre for debt collection, as you can imagine it is quite a stressful environment to be in.
I (Angel) tend to front majority of the time, Amethyst will be on standby if I'm ever getting overwhelmed and need to switch out.
And then comes the topic of splitting. We split, a lot like a lot. And most of the time the worst of the splitting happens at work! It's genuinely hell, sometimes we almost go home but we push through to the end of the day. We take hourly breaks (morning, lunch, afternoon) + personal breaks where we go to the bathroom. We drink a lot of coffee, two in the morning and one on our desk throughout the day. We also have a really bad nicotine and use our vape during each of our hourly breaks. It's absolutely not healthy way to cope, but unhealthy coping is better than not coping. Additionally our supervisors know that we have DID and we have a first aid officer who we can talk to when things are getting too much (he can also send us home if we can't go back to work)
Me and Amethyst typically try and handle things ourselves but splits finish sometimes and a new alter ends up fronting at work. We have notes all over our monitors of everything that we need to do, which helps a lot! Plus no one is ever alone and there's always others who know the work to guide the unfamiliar. And we try and make our environment comforting! We have ponies, carebear and kirby on our desk and a bunch of fidget toys to play with while we work.
In conclusion: working full time while in the early stages of recovery with did sucks it sucks a lot. but we make it work and we cope (albeit unhealthy coping)
oh and also we will continue to make jokes about working with did because humour helps us cope!
sucks that you have to work if u wanna make money to survive in life why can't i just sleep everyday with 4 cats and get paid for it
In a world where one must work jobs instead of always being able to reach out and hold a loved one, I get really tired of work
Just another day in this 21st century monotonous life. It’s just work, sleep, work, sleep until college starts.
Le sigh
I hate my job… well I don’t absolutely hate it, I just hate waking up so early to be there the whole day. My wish is to go to school full time and focus on my studies and be Someone for myself. School full time is a privilege that I can’t have. So here’s to waking up early af at a dead end career.
