Several years ago Bedroom Suck was one of my go-to labels: Boomgates, Bitch Prefect, Blank Realm and Scott & Charlene's Wedding all came out with LPs within a few years of one another.

Full Ugly (Melbourne, Australia) were also releasing music during that time period. Made up of members from Milk Teddy and Totally Mild, Full Ugly sound like the "could" be from Australia. Yes, they sound a bit like Milk Teddy crossed with Scott & Charlene's Wedding, but there is also something completely unique here.

Bedroom Suck was instrumental in supporting the mid 2010s bloom of Australian music. Of course they continue to put out great music (listen to Dag).

I should mention that I bought this excellent 7" through Goner Records "Spring Cleaning 2022". Everything at the previous link is 50% off and Goner charges fair shipping.

We have been a bit light on the jangle pop (i.e. None at all so far) this Augustralia but that ends now on whatever day this is. Say a big hello to Full Ugly from the Melbourne, the jangle pop capital of the world. So, from what is a pretty funny band name, especially being a bunch of guys, comes an archetypal Australian album name 'Spent The Afternoon'. They also manage to knock out some great song titles like the one above. These songs remind me a growing up in the suburbs and how it felt when you had spare time on your hands.

In my limited research I discovered that we owe a big thanks to a guy called Nathan Burgess for this album and that his band have another on the way, probably, as this was released this year but recorded in 2011. I like this album and this track in particular. It kind of rolls along in the same way that Dick Diver and The Twerps do and that is a nice way to roll. These guys would be a good addition to a Laneways lineup for an early afternoon slot. Yeah, I'd like that.
