This playlist, Modern BBQ Classics Volume 1, will help take the stress out of entertaining because, let's face it, choosing music that pleases everyone is hard work. I have been listeing to my ipod playlist entitled 'Modern BBQ Classics' and thought I would share some of missed, hidden or forgotten gems of the last few years. I know nothing about this band except that I like this song. I am pretty sure the Ep this come from is pretty good so pick it up from bandcamp if you like. Rock it and enjoy

Before today "Round and Round" was the only Ariel Pink song that interested me, espeically after seeing it live a few years (lots of years?) ago. That was until I heard this track while the iPod played all day on random, the big rock outs took my fancy and I really enjoyed this. I hope you do too while you rock out and enjoy.

I have a soft spot for the epic ballad, especially when used as a closing track. I can tell you nothing about Brothers At Sea except that they may actually be brothers, or sailors, and they probably recorded this on land. Find out more for your self with this magic link. This track also got thrown up. I don't think I had ever heard it before and I don't even know how this band got on my ipod. I am now forever grateful. Here it is Cloud Archive - How to Smoke Roses proving, once again, that post rock is the most rock. Turn it up and enjoy!

Here is a track I heard the other day and I managed to remember what it is. I am listeing to the ipod on random and it keeps throwing up some gold. This track Rosemary & Love by Mild America is very nice. Turn it up and enjoy.

I think this is one of the nicest songs released in the last five years. This is the Salad Boys from New Zealand playing Better Pickups. I love this song and so should you. Turn it up and enjoy.

Sitting here working on my laptop listeining to the Modern BBQ Classics playlist and this little ditty from Swim Deep makes me feel happy on this wet Sunday night. The track is Laniakea and I don't even know how I got hold of this album. This song is just lovely so turn it up and enjoy.

Occasionally a pop song comes along and you stop doing everything else and listen to it. This is one of those songs. Now finish so I can get back to the work I was doing!

I used to think Mic City Sons was the better Heatmiser album but that Cop & Speeder had better songs. Now, I'm not so sure. Had a listen to this while chopping wood in the backyard. I recommend Cop & Speeder for all outside physical activity.

This song has a kind of stadium rock fell to it but not in an 80's kind of way. It doesn't really matter though because I think it is truly a cracker. It grew on me during the last few months of 2016. I thank The Features for this song and wish them all the best for the future. I have added this to my new "Modern BBQ Classics" playlist, you could find a spot for this on one of yours too. I just know you can. Now you should all go rock it and enjoy!

And just one more track, this time from one of Adelaide's finest. Wireheads released Arrive Alive" in 2016 but it has getting a few spins in 2017 for me. This track has me coming back to it time and time again, they just nailed the harmonies on this. Rock it and enjoy.

So while we are celebrating all good things rock and roll I present to you this amazing track from Sea Scouts. There is a certain darkness in this track that can only come from a Hobart band. It also completely rocks ths house. It may be from the 90s but I'd still go and see this music played today. Rock it and enjoy.
