2! I'm sorry to hear about your night. Hopefully tomorrow will be better! Sending you a hug!
2. who sleeps in the other’s lap?
Dan wakes up sad. Phil’s already out of bed, his half of the duvet tucked under Dan’s side. The clock on his nightstand reads 12:47. Part of him wants to stay there, staring at the numbers until his brain goes numb.
But his therapist wouldn’t approve, so he forces himself out of bed. He stays in his pants and pulls on Phil’s obnoxiously bright plant hoodie. Colours are supposed to be happy, right?
It smells like Phil. That’s happier.
He drags himself into the lounge. Phil’s playing Fortnite, PS4 controller clutched between his hands. There’s only five people left. He looks up when Dan enters, just for a moment, and his brows furrow.
“Oh no,” he says, voice soft.
Dan hums so quietly he’s sure Phil doesn’t hear it. He settles on the couch, so close their thighs are pressed together. Phil knows what that means. He pulls up the menu and quits the game, definitely making someone very happy.
Maybe Dan should feel bad, but he watches Phil lean over, set the controller on the coffee table and switch over to Netflix. He sits back, resting his arm on the cushions behind Dan, and smiles.
Dan settles into his lap without a word, head resting on Phil’s thighs and knees drawn up to his chest. Phil’s fingers land in his hair, tugging at the tiny knots in the curls.
“Friends okay?” he asks.
Dan nods. He focuses on the feeling of Phil playing with his hair until he falls back asleep to the Friends laugh track.
