Fill My Cup, Lord
Fill My Cup, Lord
“Life is not a spectator sport. . . . If you’re going to spend your whole life in the grandstand just watching what goes on, in my opinion you’re wasting your life.” ~ Jackie RobinsonFor you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. ~ Psalm 86:5I heard her – again. She wanted to have her picture taken…

the challenge to BECOME LOVE
LOVE ISN’T SOMETHING WE FALL INTO, LOVE IS SOMEONE WE BECOME.
three pages into his book, bob goff poses the question: “how do we prove who we are?” “i don’t mean who our drivers license say we are or what our careers suggest about who we are or who we tell other people we are or who they tell us we are.” he goes on to write that we ought to “identify ourselves simply by how we loved people”. i cannot help but think—THIS is spot on. as bob says, “love isn’t something we fall into; love is someone we become.” i don’t know about you, but i want to work more on becoming love.
i want to love people better. i want to love people more fiercely. i want to love people with no limits or boundaries. because, i believe that when we love people— we are able to disrupt culture in such a profound way. we don’t just become better humans, we become better dreamers + entrepreneurs with the ability to serve people + solve their problems. yes, i want to be good at what i do, but along this journey— i do not want to dismiss the importance of becoming love to people. because, love is what changes people / situations / culture. when someone leaves my presence, when they wrap up a project with me— i want them to feel seen, noticed, and appreciated. i don’t want them identify me just as a designer or a podcaster, but as someone who loves humanity deeply. while we hold many titles— at the core of who are are is human. and, i believe, that if we are continually tapping into our humanity— focusing on becoming love, then we can create real change in this world. i hope that we can each take on the challenge to BECOME LOVE— not dismissing it, thinking that it has nothing to do with being an entrepreneur. but, i hope we each realize that THIS IS THE CORE of what we signed up for as dream chasers. as we move throughout our day, may our every movement leak love and may we find our identity not in what we do or what we’ve started, but in becoming love.

Lord, I don’t deserve your pursuit. I don’t deserve your relentless, reckless love. I don’t deserve your loyalty and devotion.
Thank you for loving me at my darkest. Thank you for pursuing me in my mess.
I am fully known and fully loved. What peace and comfort.
“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12
