Fun Tuesday: Romitri Edition
This week’s fun Tuesday prompt comes from my good friend and a brilliant writer in her own right, @hpfanonezillion “”Rose taking care of Dimitri after a poorly calculated move in a training session costs him a pulled muscle or bad blow to the head or something which will cause him to need to rest for a while.” check us both out on AO3 and FFN under the same names! I hope you guys enjoy the rest of your week!
Rose Hathaway loved to watch her husband work. Today that meant sitting in on a training session. So far Dimitri had annihilated everyone he’d gone up against. Considering these guys were all new recruits and Dimitri was a seasoned guardian, it wasn’t all that surprising.
Much as she loved watching him slam guys half his age into the mat, she was getting a little bored.
“Hey, Comrade.” she said loudly. “How about you take on a real challenge?”
Dimitri chuckled and turned. “What might that be, Guardian Belikov?” he asked, a gleam in his eye that made Rose think it would probably be more fun to go make out in the supply closet.
Nevertheless, she stood. “Me.” she said with a grin. She quickly tied her hair back with the tie she kept on her wrist and sauntered over to the mat, never taking her eyes off Dimitri.
They squared off and began sparring. Dimitri took a swing at her which she blocked neatly with her forearm and went in for a hard jab to his face.
Dimitri leaned back and avoided the blow, landing a kick to Rose’s side that nearly knocked the breath out of her. She retaliated with a right hook, which landed, causing her to grin widely.
After a while she stopped keeping track of who did what, losing herself in the fight. Finally she saw her opening and swept his leg. Dimitri tried to jump and avoid it, and nearly succeeded. Rose felt her shin bone clip his foot. It wasn’t much but it was enough apparently to send him to the mat.
His shoulder hit hard and Rose heard the sickening but unmistakable pop of it being knocked out of socket. Dimitri groaned.
“Damn it.” Rose hissed and dropped to her knees beside him.

An hour later she was driving home with a very disgruntled Dimitri in the passenger seat his right arm in a sling.
“I really am sorry.” she said, wincing.
“It’s alright, Roza.” he said. “It’s only a dislocated shoulder.”
“And four weeks off work.” Rose said, biting her lip.
“Four weeks of paid leave where I will always be home when you are.” he said and slid his hand up her thigh.
Rose felt her thigh twitch of its own accord but she slapped his hand away. “No way, mister.” she said without looking at him. “I will not be responsible for slowing your recovery.”
Dimitri sighed. There was no arguing with her and she was right anyway. He took her hand and gave it a quick squeeze.
When they got home, Rose insisted on watching while Dimitri took his pain medication and put him to bed. Despite his high tolerance for just about everything he fell asleep quickly.
Rose watched him for a while before giving into temptation and climbing in next to him, careful not to jostle his injured shoulder. She curled up against his side and laid a hand on his chest, eventually lulled to sleep by the sound of his even breathing.
