Fungicide (2002) is the first feature length film by low budget auteur Dave Wascavage. He directed, co-wrote, and played at least 5 roles in this film. it's about a mad scientist who somewhat inadvertently creates a deadly mushroom army, and the band of heroes who work together to save the world from their threat. but most of all, it's about family:

it's got an incredible cast of characters (shoutout to my fave, Titus Ignutus) as you can see below. this shot is shortly before the character Major Wang is introduced. writer/director Dave Wascavage is on the right in the brown blazer, and the woman next to him is his cowriter and wife Mary Wascavage (who also sings the song in the closing credits. i wake up with said song stuck in my head at least once a week):

fungicide (2002) is currently available on the free streaming app Tubi (at least in the US) and is about an hour 20 minutes. it is also available for purchase on dvd from Dave Wascavage's website. i really really recommend it it is genuinely my most watched film of the year!!
