All Things Circle Back to Nopixel

The Hubby and I had a bit of a trippy moment tonight.

Our friend got us to watch SK8 the Infinity dubbed on FUNimation. We had started watching last week, but only got a few episodes in. Tonight we got far enough in to be properly introduced to the character Tadashi Kikuchi. As we're listening to this character talk, Hubby and I joke about how he sounds like NoYu.

Side tangent: over on nopixel, the player Burn created a side character NoYu Sukk as a parody of Sykkuno's character Yuno Sykk. Burn designed the character identical to Yuno and did a fairly decent job at mimicking Sykkuno's voice. After four or five days of running around as Yuno's evil twin and causing havoc, Burn and Sykkuno came up with a plan to have this "evil twin" mini-arc come to a head. Burn created NoYu as a joke and wanted to kill off the character, so last night they created this epic to try to do just that, which meant a LOT of NoYu content. Safe to say, we had this guy's voice in our heads fairly well.

Back to SK8 and Tadashi. The more episodes we watched, the more Hubby and I kept saying that the character sounds so much like NoYu. It was bugging me, so I went to look him up. According to BehindTheVoiceActors.com, Tadashi's voice actor is someone named Brandon Johnson, but Tadashi is the only character listed (as well as "additional voices" in two other animes). Also, the VA didn't have a headshot pictured. Not. Helpful.

I turn to Hubby, and ask if he happens to know Burn's real name, and if it happens to be Brandon. He told me he didn't know, but did point out that Burn's main nopixel character is Sasuke Johnson sooooooooo..... 🤷‍♀️

I tried to find Burn's real name, but the closest I got was his Twitter account, where it DOES list him as a streamer AND voice actor! 

Then, I scroll down a bit, and the pinned tweet is Burn announcing his first major voice acting role: as Tadashi Kikuchi from SK8 the Infinity!

WE KNEW HE SOUNDED LIKE NOYU! (Which, I guess means that Sykkuno sounds like a more energetic version of Tadashi?????) It just feels so cool to have been watching this guy stream, only to also watch his first major professional mainstream VA role.

I saw the premiere of S3, and I must say I am very happy Colleen Clinkerbeard plays Akito. She seems to get it, on an innate level. The way she said "just like you" to Ren. You can hear the rage and hurt.

Whoever is playing Ren is sure enjoying themselves.

ok i know people use women’s voices for little boys and maybe if i heard nami’s voice attached to a woman first i wouldn’t be so thrown off by her voice. it just sounds like a little boy’s voice to me,,, thank you cruz from needless
