My New Tug Toy

I knew Mama wouldn't forget my favorite game! I love playing tug with Mama, and now I am big and strong and am the best tugger you have ever seen. I was almost starting to worry that my new fetch toy was gonna be the best tug toy I was gonna get, but Mama really came through for me this time. She made me an awesome tug toy. It's really long, so we can run and tug easier, and it has a handle and a ball, so we both have something to hang onto!

DIY Tug Toy

I've got another great holiday DIY for you...

A festive tug toy! This one is pretty simple and can be tackled fairly easily.

You will need:

Drill

Tennis ball

Rope

Lighter

Carefully drill a hole through the tennis ball

String it on the rope, moving it to the center.

Tie the ball in place.

Twist the rope ends around each other until you reach the half way point. Then, shape a handle and twist the loose ends of the rope over the handle shape on the opposite side, going back and forth until the rope is almost at it's end.

Tie off and melt the ends.

My New Toy Box

Mama just keeps surprising me with new stuff! Usually, I can get a treat when we go to the store, but I have to wait for my BarkBox to come for new toys. Not that I'm complaining, I get lots of toys, and BarkBox Day is the funnest every single month, but this month is different. Mama keeps giving me toys left and right, and she even gave me a brand new Search-and-Destroy Toybox that doesn't fall apart no matter how much I tear at it, but I can still rip all of my toys out and find hidden treats. This has been the best holiday season ever so far... I can't wait to see what else Mama has for me!

Large Breed Search-And-Destroy Toybox

Last year I made my first Search and Destroy Toybox, and last week I designed one for small breed dogs. However, I felt that there were still flaws in my original design, so I decided to make a few tweaks and couldn't be happier with the results.

Materials you will need:

Pop-up laundry basket

Pliers, wire cutters, ect... something to bend thick wire tightly

Scissors

First cut a slit at the top of the basket in the casing near where the end of the wire is. Then, use pliers to pull the wire out of the casing.

Pull the wire out a foot or tow or three or whatever looks good in the moment and bend over itself and crease tightly

Slide back into the casing as far as possible and then wrap the excess wire around the basket under the top lip.

Push wire into the loop you made at the beginning of the casing and fold over so that you can tie the wire in a knot before squeezing it tightly so that the excess wire lays flat against the basket, in line with the knot, and no sharp edges are exposed.

Cut X's of various sized around the basket and fill with toys and/or treats.

Rattle Jolly

Mama is really great at making toys... she has made so many for me, and I love them so much. Sometimes she will be lazy and pick up a toy at the store for me, and I try to be nice and play with it for a little while, but most of the time, I end up pouting and making sure I didn't appreciate the lack of effort. My favorite is my jolly stick. It has an apple stick for Mama to hold on to, and at the end, she made felt critters with rattling eyes that hang from fishing string so that they bounce around, moving lots and making a bunch of noise!

Small Breed Search-And-Destroy Toybox

Last year I made a super fun toybox for Waffles, and with the holidays approaching, I wanted to come up with a design that was more suitable for small breeds. When I was at Walmart, I saw a smaller mesh pop-up laundry bag and thought it would be perfect for a smaller dog.

This design is much more simple and quicker to make. The materials you will need are:

Rope

Small mesh pop-up laundry bag

Scissors

Lighter

First you will need to tie the top of the bag closed. This will create four holes your dog can stick their nose in to access the contents of the toybox.

Next, cut an X in two of the sides, large enough to pull their largest toy out of.

Once you fill your new toybox with toys or treats, it will be ready for your puppy or small dog to "Search and Destroy"!

My New Fetch Toy

This week Mama made me a really cool new toy! It has rope, so I'm allowed to tug with it, and it has THREE balls to chew on and to grab when Mama throws it in the air for me to catch. That makes fetch a lot easier and more fun because it's not as fun to run after a toy laying on the ground as it is to catch it in the air. Mama really makes the best toys.
