I P P U D O Uncle’s Singapore foodie friend told him that the only ramen place to go is Ippudo on Orchard Rd. He went and has been converted ever since. So when Ippudo announced that they were opening their first eatery on Rooftop at Westfield, Broadway, Newmarket, Uncle was very excited. He went on the second day of their opening and the fanfare was worth it. He had the Karaka-Men, Ippudo’s famous original tonkotsu broth with thin & wavy noodles served with simmered pork topped with special spicy ground pork miso and toasted cashew garnish. Ippudo’s famed ramen is heralded by the tonkotsu broth that is created from the elaborate cooking of different cuts of pork bones - the resultant broth is rich and creamy. Diners can have options for ”doneness” of their ramen: soft (yawa), medium (futsu), hard (kata) and very hard (bari kata). Uncle chose the futsu; it is the perfect finish for the Karaka-Men. Observations: Uncle had great expectations of Ippudo. His previous experiences elsewhere cannot be faulted. Granted it's early days but the ”hospitality” has gone slightly amiss with a largely young waitstaff. Biblioclasm:Is there something about themselves they wish fewer people knew about?

Wata has very good control of who knows what about him, so no. Zuchi wishes less people knew exactly what Wata means when he calls him a liar. Mika and Hi are pretty private people, so no. Nesaku doesn’t remember who knows what about him. Ihasaku doesn’t care what people know about him. Ume wishes people wouldn’t remember how she used to be. Uwo wishes less people would know about why he acts the way he does. Kura is generally okay with what people know about him, since it’s not much. If Zuha doesn’t want people to know something about him, he’s usually good at keeping it quiet. Tsumi doesn’t care what anyone thinks or knows about her. Futsu wishes less people knew about the fishing incident

Enantiodromia:What’s the most extreme personality shift they’ve gone through in their life?

Whatever the incident was that caused Wata to lose his trust in everyone, it caused a sudden and drastic shift in his behavior. Zuchi learned very quickly in the court of Amaterasu to be the way he is now, and Wata is one of the few who remember what he was like before. Mika became distrustful of people, and Hi stopped talking. Nesaku decided to not remember people and names that didn’t really matter to him. Ihasaku has never really changed. Uwo and Ume experienced drastic shifts in their bond, and their personalities, when they took the oath of protection. Kura has never really had an extreme personality shift. Zuha would say the forming of Hokani is the most insane shift, and Tsumi’s personality was changed dramatically by her time in Yomi. Futsu has not changed that much over his life.

Jettatura:If they could place a magical curse on their worst enemy, what would they want the curse to do?

Not all of them really have enemies, so limiting this to the ones that do… Zuchi would curse him with a conscience, so that everything he did would haunt him forever, twisting in his gut. Futsu would curse him to constantly feel every bit of pain he ever inflicted on anyone else, especially Zuchi.

Zugzwang:What’s the trickiest problem they face in their life right now?

Wata is trying to help his brother as much as he can, despite both Zuchi’s lack of concern for himself and his self-awareness. Zuchi is trying to deal with the various repercussions and after-effects of his actions. Mika is trying to figure out where to put up a new painting, and Hi is trying to stop her from buying more. Nesaku is trying to deal with the memory problems he inflicted on himself, and Ihasaku is trying to help him. Uwo and Ume are dealing with their consciences on speaking against reviving their father. Kura is trying to deal with the guilt of attacking his siblings. Zuha is always struggling with Hokani, and Tsumi only has problems when she’s around Hokani. Futsu wants to help Zuchi, and faces the same problem as Wata, plus he needs to find a way to stop Zuchi from bringing home more cats.

Zuchi. It’s Zuchi. It’s always going to be Zuchi. Futsu might be chiller than Wata, and willing to go along with most of Zuchi’s antics, but look…

Three things Futsu is good at: Swords, diplomacy, and controlling Zuchi

Three things Futsu is bad at: Letting go, breaking bad news to Ihasaku or Nesaku, Fishing

✱: What is your favourite ‘happily ever after’ for your muse? And what’s your most unconventional ‘ever after’ headcanon for them (happily or otherwise)?

Zuchi starts having some self-awareness so Futsu doesn’t have to stress over him, and maybe he finds someone who cares about him and settles down.

?? Futsu and Zuchi stay exactly as they are and just end up with way too many cats and no one ever sees them again under the massive pile of cats??

♐: What is your muse particularly unskilled at?

Fishing. No really, he is really bad at it and it is the only thing Ihasaku is disappointed in him for. He almost drowned one time.
