it’s late christmas night and you’re sitting by the fire with you significant other and pet, cuddled up in blankets with hot chocolate and am watching the show. as it gets later you put the presents under your tree for the kids.

You have an awesome music taste and?? I was wondering if you had any Christian bands you recommend? I listen to a whole lot of alt and while thats good!! I really don't have much bands I like that are y'know,,, worship/Christian.

oof I’m very picky so I don’t actually listen to a ton of Christian music … off the top of my head (click-thru links included):

Five Iron Frenzy | ska; love to sing about Jesus, Christian hypocrisy, American hypocrisy, and how uncool they are as a band; I prefer their older stuff bc of Nostalgia but the newer stuff is also Very good; also they pulled my favourite album off Spotify and I am very upset

Relient K | duh; The Bird & the Bee Sides is an underrated album tho; they also stan Five Iron Frenzy just sayin

MARGO | acoustic / singer-songwriter; very mellow sound and voice; I’m a little biased bc I know her but objectively her voice is gorgeous; just give one song a try I promise you won’t regret it

nak | Filipino-American rapper; I do Not listen to Christian rap Ever but I have made one (1) exception bc this dude is an incredible wordsmith and I don’t cringe when I listen to him; often raps over mellower / jazzier tracks; most of his stuff isn’t on Spotify but available for free download elsewhere, and he has a youtube channel

Future of Forestry | Wikipedia describes them as “melodic ambient alternative rock” and I’m just… iguess.jpeg; I saw them in concert once and as soon as they whipped out the harmonium I fell in love; I will forever stan their Travel series

Son Lux | ok honestly idk what they’re up to now, I’ve only listened to their debut album At War With Walls & Mazes which has pretty clear Christian themes (the first time I heard “Raise” I was SHOOK) so that’s all I’m recommending in good conscience; very experimental, big on creating interesting textures / soundscapes; if you listen to nothing else at least listen to Raise I’m not kidding that song still gives me goosebumps

The Oh Hellos | amazing. beautiful. wonderful. 100/10; their lyrics are the kind you have to read and contemplate and soak into your being; they’re a SIBLING DUO how cute is that!!; indie folk rock if you need to know genre; Wikipedia says nothing of their faith and they rarely say ‘God’ but as a Christian their faith jumps out at you if you pay even a modicum of attention; I mean one of their entire albums is a C. S. Lewis reference; also if you get a chance to see them live PLEASE DO their energy and joy is contagious

that’s about all I’ve got for now ;v; like I said I don’t listen to a ton. CCM grates on me really fast, I need Musical Variety and Artistic Imagination and all of the above bands/musicians satisfy that for me

Future of Forestry, The Piano and String Sessions

Have you ever listened to Future Of Forestry? It’s not technically worship music but there’s a lot of Christian themes in his music, and the thing I like best about it is how much variety there is from song to song and album to album. A few of my favorites are Sanctitatis, Halleluiah (not a cover of Hallelujah), Covers You, You Are Love, and The Wait Is Done.

I have a special place in my heart for artists who arent explicitly Christian yet display Christian themes (*cough, cough* Mumford & Sons, I love "Awake My Soul" so much)
