my heart breaks for fuyue and i initially thought situ ling (or chao yuan now??) was just being needlessly cruel to her and in a sense he was at the start. but ep 33 was really good because it draws parallels between her obsession with him and his obsession with ming yi, and he himself can acknowledge how deep that kind of life-saving obsession runs. he genuinely cares about her, although doesn't love her, and he does want her to break free of that obsession. (the choking was not necessary though 😭)

It's rational to want to survive, and not want to be constantly abused or looked down, so all these 'ill protect jiejie. I'll get the cure for jiejie' is not productive at all for their survival esp because jiejie never asked for it
